I read some older interviews from quite a while ago, and they state that Si P was working on the next Hallucinogen album, and was making tracks for it, and it could’ve/should’ve/might’ve come out last year (per the interview) but I don’t see any news on it?! Please don’t delay it ‘cause of Shpongle 4 :!:  :!:

I’d heard that also but I reckon this if it is being put together at Area 51 the Hallucinogen top secret base it will be ages off yet and of course completely CLASSIFIED information on a need to know basis. As we have all seen with the info from this week on Shpongle etc things can change and most probably will.
Adam Brown made a very good prediction a while back saying it would be 2009 - I think so also. :(

That’d suck! I think he should make one before the Shpongle 4  I don’t want to wait so long!
yeah no kidding. well, im a lil bit more biased towards hallucinogen, although shpongle 4 is pretty good too!
its a dilemma.
maybe cuz it has been soo many years since the last hallucinogen album came out!
I would love to see a new both
I leaning toward the spongle side on this one though
The last Shpongle album took my breath away
Guess what I’m really trying to say is both would make me a very happy camper :D
Another point to ponder is how different Hallucinogen 3 is going to sound from Lone Deranger.
Ten years is a long time, it’s obvious Simon has evolved musically (just look at Shpongle and Younger Brother), I’m wondering if Hallucinogen 3 would sound anything like we expect it to?
Does he even have it in him anymore?
He’s still a musical genius, but how much of that music has been 4/4 psytrance recently…
Long Long Arms, Stretch-Tastic, Bubble-n-Tweak… all very good efforts, but none really hit the spot in my opinion.
I get what you mean Adam Brown, but he made more ambient music before Hallucinogen, didn’t he? And he got to Hallucinogen the Twisted album was perfect too, and it was his first Hallucinogen album, so it’s not like he got better and better and then released Twisted. And if he can make his first (and the subsequent singles/albums) that good, I am sure he could do it again… maybe work himself in, and by the time it’s being released it’d be like the other Hallucinogen albums… but one never knows (at least till we get another one).
Maybe he just can’t be bothered with it now and has moved on. The tracks mentioned my Adam are very good but there’s only so much you can do with 4/4 and in 8 mins of production.

I suppose that’s why I was so excited about the Metal Sharon project, because it gave Simon a chance to flex his legs in the psytrance department while still having a few experimental tracks to keep things interesting.
I guess if there was a Hallucinogen 3 then the most likely scenario is that he’d make it a journey involving some psytrance and some experimental, because it seems to fit his current agenda much more readily than a 70 minute psytrance album would. Simon is such a versetyle musician, I guess he feels limited making an entire album of only 1 style.
Personally I’d love it, I love all the Hallucinogen tracks that aren’t 4/4 psytrance (Take a look at his remix of Pteranodon by Ozric Tentacles)
What do you think about Pipeworm.
What tracks did he actually make after the LD album?
E is kind of a slow track, but I have it ‘cause it’s from him. But generally I really appreciate that he somehow has different projects for different sides… I hope it stays like that (want psy, get Hallucinogen, want Psybient, get Shpongle etc…).
It’s not all mixed up (till now), and that makes it a lot better than having one Project make all kinds of styles.
I really don’t know, maybe he is limited with just psytrance (as you say), so he is not so interested in making another Hallucinogen album, or he just doesn’t have the time for that.
Pipeworm has its moments and I was really excited when I first got it, but it doesn’t stand the test of time unfortunately. It gets too boring! Take the segment between 2:30 and 3:20 for example, it just sort of plods along and doesn’t go anywhere. (Thankfully the bit after that is pretty good, but even so… It’s not like Simon to waste even a millisecond! That’s why I enjoy Lone Deranger so much, it gives 110% for the entire album)
I suppose an important thing to note is that the majority of tracks released post-Lone Deranger have all been collaborations with other psytrance artists:
Long Long Arms = Joti Sidhu
Stretch-Tastic = Tristan
Pipeworm = Lucas
The only solo track was Bubble’n'Tweak. So maybe there’s still hope, as long as he continues to work purely solo when doing psytrance stuff? It’s the other artists dragging him down
While we’re on the subject… I’ve heard Simon say in an interview that ‘E’ wasn’t really even supposed to be a proper ‘Hallucinogen’ track. He was asked to contribute a track for the 12 Steps of Ambience album and that was simply the artist name he slapped on it (as opposed to Simon Posford or whatever)
Ok about the ‘E’ track. That’s his artist name when he’s alone
BEFORE ANYONE THAT READS THIE FOLLOWING COMPLAINS, ASK Si P YOURSELF (IT’S NOT REALLY OFFICIAL AND ABOUT THE DETAILS I AM NOT CERTAIN) AND IIT’S UP TO HIM TO TELL YOU/VERIFY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :!: :!: :!:
I actually wrote to him a PM yesterday… but there’s basically not much news about Hallucinogen 3 etc., and as far as I understood, on other styles of music he is more free to make his own music stuff (I guess less monotonous or more experimenting possibilities) and he has more fun doing that. He moved house, so the bass stuff is also not set up properly, so he can’t just do some dancey track where the bass etc. has to fit perfectly… with YB etc., he’s used to doing the bass stuff…
DONT take this data as official, I am probably interpreting it a little, unfortunately I chose to save the message he sent, but it didn’t get saved.
Last thing that I didn’t really understand is that either when he’s under pressure he doesn’t like to make psy, so he’d probably rather make psytrance (if at all) when he’s not under pressure.
We all want H3 sooner rather than later, but like Ray points out, don’t pressure poor Simon unless you want less than his 110% I can’t say I’ve been dissappointed in ANY of his musical excursions. He’s on a sonic journey and all of his experiences will influence H3 when it finally arrives. I say the journey has been a good one so don’t worry, be happy!
