Nope, I just use the album art, or what I find on the web.
21 pixels does not have to be overly clear.
I animate it in ImageReady.

can both of you give me some tips for the fastest way to make color-shifting animations like kramer’s icon and ray’s logo?

i know how to animate a gif with frames… i just need to know how to make frames that shift colors so smoothly!

do you use color replacement tools? or a whole different option that just needs some numbers?

i hope you don’t have to just go in and change each color by hand

Made this quickly for you (even spelling mistake)... simple to see and only few changes… just trash the LAYER with the text (NOT the frame). Open with imageReady. Animation you have to do.

Old crap I wrote:

I make the pics in Photoshop, and in imageready I use the stroke (gradient) (in the layer properties menu) and moved around the colors of the stroke (gradient) on each new frame, then I choose tween with previous frame 20-100 frames… for the Hallucinogen logo that is. I think I used a mask too, so the colors were bigger but so I wouldn’t have a fat stroke, but that is not a must. Actually I think I used outer glow, 100% opacity and a gradient, so it goes around the text.

For a color overlay I’d use the color overlay, darken or something, maybe 50% opacity, and change that color on each frame, and then tween for a smooth flow from color to color, else change the time of each frame, for a quick color change.
