What’s the definition of psychedelic music?

Alot of my friends are asking me what the difference between normal techno/trance and psytrance is, so please, give me something to answer with

it’s like, fuckin’ awesome man….*cough cough*

What a question….hmmm, to me psy music explores more possibilty of sounds, layering etc and moves in deeper directions to satisfy the mind body, emotions. :D

Or something like that…

...I was gonna try and too that…but you pretty much covered it.  For me, psy is a much more ‘visual’ music, if that makes any sense.

Yes, yes that’s also very true it does give the mind stimuli to fire up the receptorcites for imagery and daydreaming.

I think that any music can be psychadelic with the right…ahem…mindset. It would seem to me that in respect to genre’s, the difference between psytrance and regular trance is pretty damn apparent.

Try playing it for your friends and if they still don’t make sure they have ears.

That’s very true, regular trance is absolute crap..

as for someone like me…who becomes absolutely bored if not slightly irritated at the mundane never ending droned out beat of trance…psytrance is what music is all about…
it emotes an entire spectrum of mood and feeling with a mere break, a certain syncopation, a little loop here and there…it can take you from the absolute depths of euphoria to the carnal movements of sex and then lull you back into a sweet respite that is just long enough to be ready for more of anything….

but that’s just my two cents  :wink:

Hell yeah.. even without any psychadelics psychedelic music can be a really good music..never used a psychadelic and i’m almost crying my mind out listening to some good psy music.. not into dark anyways!
just make psychadelic definition as something that makes you feel good!

Play your friends some “normal” trance like Sandstorm and then play Shamanix.

That will let them know, and you didn’t even need to speak.

I think i have been listening too much to psy-trance lately, i seem to have forgot how normal trance sounds… I listened to some of the samples for hallucinogen yesterday because im thinking about buying some maybe… but i think it’s a bit too uptempo for me… Instead i bought Ott’s Blumenkraft and YB’s a flock of bleeps.

If you’re on LSD and listen to normal trance, it will sound dull and simplistic.  If you are on LSD and listen to Goa, your mind will be blown, the sounds will grab your limbs and force your body to pulsate in perfect rhythm for hours on end all the while giving you mental trip into the illusion of yourself.
