Okay, not always, but I think it’s quite possible to get people to like some music (or at least they can accept it).

I wouldn’t mind getting into Shpongle, but maybe I just need to lay on my bed and listen to certain tracks or so. Of course if I bought the CD I would get to like it (I think).

Can you recommend an all time Shpongle favourite track, since I only have the ...And the day turned to night! I bought the My head feels like a frisbee… wrong buy IMO.

PS: Listening to samples 30 sec. of course won’t help judge a song. I like the ...and the day turned to night, but that’s just one “side” of the many Shpongle tracks…

Weio, Shpongle 1-2 are kinda more ‘tough’ than shpongle 3, shpongle 3 is more dancey and catchey, although the 1-2 are also amazing…and yep it’s your taste….

Whew, loaded question Ray.  I think you should go check out this thread:

There is such variety on the shpongle albums that you can go from frenzied dance track to mellow head trip in 2 songs.  It depends what you are in the mood for.

My favoirite album is their second and it’s opener, Dorset Perception, seems to be a favorite of many.  If you want energy, go with that.  If you want to float off into space, Once Upon The Sea of Blissful Awareness will do the job.

Either way, Shpongle 2 is one of the few albums that I think just about everybody NEEDS to have.  From start to finish it is a musical, creative and technical masterpeice on part with…say, Dark Side of the Moon.ott_bot1.gif

I meant both tracks smile

But I think I am getting used to it, and the songs aren’t that lazy and slow as I imagined… I remembered them to be a lot slower.

Might just buy ‘em all (online mp3), when I have some more cash. Just found a proper Psy-shop, so there I saw 5 (and more) compilations/CDs which I want.

:? Well, if ya half to live within a certian budget, then by all means do so.
If you can afford it though, I HIGHLY recommend getting a full album.
Listen to them as a whole, the way they were meant to be heard.

A bit slow on responding to this….

I love the Shpongle project and as I’ve mentioned before I haven’t really heard anything else which is as innovative, advanced, original etc in many, many years.  It’s basically years ahead of it’s time in production techniques and has set a very high bar for other artists.  I don’t think it will be topped for a long time.  I think the Shpongle project for me really reflects the psychedelic experience, on Sat night I sat mashed and floated through the soundscapes.

As for other projects they all are stunning and suit different tastes, moods and times of the day.  If someone doesn’ like it then that’s fine as music is a very personal thing, I’ve bought albums myself and for the first 3 or so listens not really connected then it clicks. :D

Its simple…

Music in the states sucks. Over here we are slaves to corporate music within the realm of Rap/Country and Rock as the pre-determined styles that sell. Seeing that this model apparently works for the retarded here in the US, to find a style such as Shpongle proves that other styles of music can actually be more thoughtful of their listeners desires than any current artist on the radio. In the states, the radio sucks. There is no radio free London here because its all controlled over here by ad machines and music like that would never make it to the waves unless its the far left of the dial and 3:30am on Saturday Morning.

I don’t know where you are from but to find a unique style with such production quality is a rare fine digg. I found Shpongle to be my gateway drug to Hallucinogen to Younger Brother to OTT. I have not seen them live though and I can understand why. Who would play here with all the regulations surrounding a live outdoor event? I need to move :(

The big deal about Shpongle:

Shpongle is nearly, if not completely indescribable using only words. One of the important points that makes Shpongle such a big deal is the fact the music itself is timeless. For the first 100 times I heard any of the three shpongle albums, I heard something I hadn’t heard before. It’s these little nuances that are peppered throughout every track that create so much variation in the music and keeps your attention. There is also the mysticism that surrounds the music and the man. I’ve never been so sure that I’d met an alien until I met Simon. I already was pretty much clued in on it after hearing “Are You Shpongled?” With all that being said, I’ve played Shpongle for so many diffrerent people from so many different walks of life, and I’ve never heard anyone say anything bad about it. More precisely, those folks all said they liked it.
Hypothetical situation: You’ve just been stomping in the woods for 12 hours straight. It’s time for a pow-wow and relax back at the flat. What cd do you put in? For me, that would be Shpongle. The music that takes you places, whether you want to go or not.
