Hey Simon, is there any chance you could make the 3D file of the Shpongle mask available to the fans here at the Twisted Forum.  I completely understand that you may not want us tinkering with it, but I know that many of us would love a chance to use it and make some killer fan art.

I read somewhere that it sculpted for the first album and then it was re-created in CG for the others.

There are tons of 3D versions of the Star Wars spaceships out there and that hasn’t hurt the franchise any.  It probably helped it…

But I guess it took some work, and it’s some official Shpongle thing, if anyone can make their own art with it or edit it, or use it for album covers, that may be the reason… or they/he just want(s) it for themselves/himself, own art for own use. Maybe nothing money/company related, but own pride with it.

I understand that. Giving the real reason would still be nice to know.

somehow i doubt george lucas upped the 3d files to a website so everyone could render their own spaceships? at a guess id say that people probably copied them. the shpongle mask is made from paper mache and chicken wire and we spent a lot of money getting it scanned in by a 3d laser machine. it’s also someones work of art and not to be fucked with. go make your own.

I suggest a home made one…..intructions as follows:-

1. Buy the first album on vinyl before it’s deleted.
2. Go to a printers and get them to scan it but larger buy about 1.5 onto think card.
3. Go home and cut out the mask.
4. Get some elastic bands and attach them to the mask via some holes.
5. Put the mask on with a Shpongle album playing and jump around like a complete twat.

not yet- far too early to start getting people excited about it. if everything goes to plan we should be releasing the album in October 2008.
