so simon independently released hallucinogen’s twist (first album) on his own label ‘twisted’ ...

so how did he then become a success?

word of mouth? over-night sensation? ridiculously monster dedicated promotion? many concerts?

all of the above?

it’s very inspiring to me and begs the question, how did he do it?

The first album Twisted was first released on the very successful Dragonfly label in 1995 of which I believe Simon Holton was the label manager.  I think it was Simon H who first spotted Simon P and signed him - maybe they knew each other anyway, not sure.  I first heard LSD on the Dragonfly CD voyage into trance of which it was the last track on the album mixed by Paul Oakenfold and it is well worth tracking down.

It was LSD that popularised SP and then in 96 Simon formed Twisted with SH as label manager so he already had a solid foundation on which to build the label.  Of course with other tracks appearing on TIP compilations i.e. the original version of Gamma Goblins which is awesome.  When Twisted went live the first album was re released on the label in 1999.

I think SP is olviously very switched on but the music does the talking.  If I have any facts wrong please point them out or if anyone can contribute more to the 10 years of quality please do so…. :D

Simon H? the one I often see online here? I thought he was “just” an admin here for the site :?  or are you talking about another one (like Si B)?

There are three Simons in all:-

Simon Posford - don’t need to explain.
Simon Holton - Twisted label manager and I think right hand bot to SP.
Simon Baring - who came on board a year or so ago I think to do admin, DJ and support the operation, site and more.

There’s probably alot more bots in the background who do a hell of alot to help out with gigs etc.

I think it’s fare to say that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.  Of course I could go off on one here and say that they are all in fact one and the one is a transformer from the future able to twist time and space and identities hence they are all called Simon.

Aghhhh it’s late now…. :D

You kidding me, I always thought that simonh is simon posford replying on the forum, lolz..
so is there any chance that simon is going to reply here? anyway..
sure the music speaks for himself, make good music and you will succeed.
ofcourse we talk on that kind of genre and not mtv bullshit which is 100% commercialism.

I think it was just ment to be. I mean if you have a great deal of passion for what you do and you have faith in yourself, why wouldn’t you succeed? I think Twisted records rocks, it’s independant and has a great deal of original artists(especially since it’s so hard to be original with electronic music). I just think it was ment to be and a lot of hard work I’m sure.

That’s right and I think that the label does an amazing job in keeping the overall sound fresh and pushing the sounds in new directions - such as the new YB album.

The whole is greater than the sum of the parts smile
