I am new to this forum, so sorry if this is in the worng section, but I bought some Magic Mushrooms a while ago and ate some with my friend.  I had an awesome trip with sphonge music playing in the background but my mom left me a message about how I am skipping to many classes and the rest of my trip was not the best.

What is some good, happy music to listen to while on mush? Since the music and atmosphere is the biggest influence while using it.

I think that ambient, meditative music is the best for magic mushrooms.  While really good dynamic music (Shpongle being the epitome, from personal experience) can unleash a mental spectacle that makes Fantasia look like a poorly-choreographed Master P video, I find that this music is distracting enough to prevent introspective or ontological insight, which is the nominal purpose of the mushroom trance.

Some good ones:
Elve - Infinite Garden
Ishvara - Magik Square of the Sun
Robert Rich - Somnium, Electric Ladder, Echo of Small Things, Below Zero, Gaudi…anything by him except Open Window, which is a solo piano disc.
Steve Roach - Fever Dreams, Holding the Space, Mystic Chords & Sacred Spaces, Darkest Before Dawn
Steve Roach & Byron Metcalf - Shaman’s Heart, Serpent’s Lair, Mantram, Wachuma’s Wave
Steve Roach & Jorge Reyes - Vine, Bark & Spore
Alio Die - Password for Entheogenic Experience
Ashera - Cobalt 144
Aglaia - Mondi Sensibli
Vir Unis & James Johnson - Perimeter 1,2 and 3, The Live Transmissions 1 & 2
Miles Tilmann, Loess & Low Profile Society - 3D Concepts
Oophoi & Louisa John-Krol - I Hear the Water Dreaming
Pete Namlook & Tetsu Inoue - 2350 Broadway 1-4 (3 is my favorite)

Now that’s what I call “Proper Aural Shamanism”!

moody steve has left you with some really fine examples of ambient music that could put you in a very good peaceful trance…

more reccomendations:

MICHAEL STEARNS - “Planetary Unfolding” (album)

This man has created some the most brilliantly innovative psychedelic ambient music I’ve ever heard. His album “Planetary Unfolding” is a pure masterpiece and anyone reading this should get ahold of it immediately!!!  (although it gets kinda spooky at moments.. so not exactly happy music)

He is highly under-rated, and a mastermind of his craft. His body of work is stunning, and another album of intrested by him would be “Kiva”

Kiva was recorded within an actual native american kiva, which is a cylindrical pit “room” in the ground, in which native americans would go on vision quests induced by the legendary Ayahausca!  Michael Stearns and friends were privileged enough to be witnesses to an actual ayahausca kiva ceremony, and this record is the music they played LIVE and recorded LIVE within the same kiva, during this fantastic ritual !!!

However, both these albums are not quite good examples for “happy” music while tripping…

KEVIN BRAHENY - “The Way Home” (album)

This is a great example of superbly emotional space music from the Hearts of Space label. This album is probably one of your best bets for the happiest most relaxing mushroom trip. However, Kevin has a much better album called “Secret Rooms”, which is a concept journey through secret passageways and stairways full of secret rooms containing beautiful VERY VERY MYSTERIOUS music! Very original, and highly innovative.

Beyond psychedelic space music and happy ambient space music…  There is, one of my revolutionary projects…

Zyzzybalubah’s HALLUCINOGENIC MIXTAPES - vol. 3 “Machine Of The Mind” (album)

I have created 5 and a half albums so far using a process of extracting and sampling the most tripped out, weird noises, and most hallucinogenic music ever made, by any and all artists from all over the world!  I will then create a sound collage with this material by splicing, overlapping, and making all these pieces of music fit together like a perfect puzzle, that flows fluidly for an entire hour or more!!

This music (particularly under the influence of an entheogen such as psilocybic mushrooms), is so hallucinogenic that it can induce visuals that are only limited by your imagination!!!

some people try to claim… no this doesn’t work without drugs… but they are missing the point. to properly use these mixtapes you should put yourself in a setting much like an isolation tank… where you want to cut off as much outside stimulation as possible. Lay on a bed, with the lights off. Stare at the ceiling… watch your winamp visualizations…  and listen to the complete mix, allowing it to fully seep into your mind, and take you for a pleasure cruise through the beautiful insanity within the imagination of the human mind.

you can download this entire album (vol. 3) by clicking this very link to the full-album MP3

or you can hear samples, and previews, and also read more information about the creation process (as well as links to my many other hallucinogenic/original/unique/new/different music projects) on the myspace for these mixtapes @

however if you are looking for a more poppy happy angle to psychedelic music…
perhaps something that is like a new 2000’s version of what the beatles were doing with “sgt. pepper” and “magical mystery tour”... .or perhaps brian wilson and the beach boy’s legendary psyche-pop album “smile”... then in that case i would highly recommend another creation of mine, which is entitled ZYZZYBALUBAH

you can find this happy twisted dreamworld @

ENJOY! ! !!
and don’t forget to find these albums! everybody!!!
these are excellent examples of innovation in music!!!!

Shpongle-Eclipse-Live IS NOT REAL… this is a mislabel of the twisted “Eclipse” compilation, that features many simon posford productions…. sooo that’s what they are trying to recommend.

Beethoven eh?  I guess that would make sence, I like classical music in general but while on a entheogen it must be alot better.

Ahh, so much good stuff I could recommend.

A recent happy find was a trio of compilation CDs from Sombient—Throne of Drones, Swarm of Drones and Storm of Drones.  They have 1,2 and 3 discs respectively for a total of 6 CDs of ambient listening pleasure.  You can read the reviews on Amazon.

Sub Concious by Phutureprimitive is a good one if you like something with a downtempo beat.
ZeroOne Albums fall into that category too, as do some of The Orb’s work.
Orbital too, esp. Middle of Nowhere.
Steve Roach & Virs Unis—Body Electric, another ear and head treat.
Roach’s The Magnificent Void is wonderful too.
Select works from Porcupine Tree can be killer too.
76:14 by Global Communication - Awsome.
Substrata by Biosphere and any SETI albums you can get your hands are on worth it.

...okay, better stop now.
 Almost forgot…Wendy Carlos is worth checking into as well, esp. Sonic Seasonings and the related Clockwork Orange discs.

Oooh, that is a good one.
Also, Reich’s music for 18 musicians.
That one will take you places.

I am suprised no one has mentioned Music For Airports…  LOL
