Anyone know what the sample is that’s shared by Shpongle-  Around the World in A Tea Daze and Eat Static’s Oceans of Fire (on the Arcana Compilation- great album, btw)?

I’m editing this now because I just downloaded “Into Paradise” by Tranan off the Accelerator 4.0 Compilation. Same sample as DMT at 1:11. Pretty good song too, by Tranan.

One more.. Voyages into the Supernatural by Hujaboy and A New Way to Say Hooray…
Maybe could start a thread? I’d like to hear about any other shared samples..

cheers..

the insane amount of “double sampling” or resampling shit other people have already used is one of our, if not our only, beef with psy music. we’ve said it before…

theres a track on blumenkraft that has the same sample as an angel tears song which is also the same sample as a bob holroyd track… its insane…

we’re saving up money to go travel to the far corners of the earth to do some field recordings of stuff so we can get some new samples. prolly not for a few years though… but it’ll happen… thievery corporation did the same thing.. they took their laptops all around south america and shit and recorded indigenous people doin their thing…

Great idea and hope you get some fresh sounds to play about with.

Amon tobain as you’ll know is big on this along with Future sound of london.

If your ever in a busy shopping centre sit for a bit, close you eyes and listen to the ambient ‘babble’ of sounds.’ - it’s not too exciting though!!

To Radioactive Sandwich:

I know exactly what you mean about those bloody overused samples!

The sample you’re talking about was *ALSO* in a Jairamji track.  rolleyes

And the male ethnic vocal from “Tea Daze” was also in an Asura track.

I also heard the trumpet line from “Staman of the Shaman” broken up in another song, don’t remember who it was by.

But yea…it does take a bit of the magic out when you hear elements virtually intact in other music.

If you want to hear about some of the most interesting found sound methods, check out the liner notes on Robert Rich’s website for “Somnium”.  My favorite is the recording of the electric field flux caused by the movement of fish in a sensor-equipped tank.

we have an edirol r-09 that we use to make our own realworld samples. slice two carries it with him on a daily basis.

also, in the beginning of “around the world in a tea daze “, the guitar is actually a song by a guy named Paco de Lucia called “Introduccion Y Pantomima”. The track is totally awesome.

amon tobin is a master at sampling, but most of the time he destroys what he’s sampling so much so that it’s totally unrecognizable - or its such an obscure sample that no one would ever find it unless they knew what to look for…

i still think that simon and amon need to do some work together. it’d be stupid not to… both are amazing producers and would probably make some crazy ass music.

doubt it’ll ever happen though…

haven’t seen the korg yet, but just checked out their new midi controller, the zero8..that thing is a BEAST, but i digress. only problem i have with the zoom is people thinking i’m going to stun them. ha

don’t despair, i think there might be more of a chance than not about simon and amon..just look at the names..sounds like they were MEANT to work together.  LOL
