In a bout a week or so Hallucinogen plays a live show in Denmark and i’m thinking about buying a ticket for the show, even tho im not a HUGE fan of hallucinogen. (i know, shame on me…) But i figured that i might never see Shpongle live in Denmark so my question is: Is there any chance of simon playing some shpongle tracks at a hallucinogen show? If not, is hallucinogen a good live experience for a “trance-live-virgin” ? :D
First off: Do yourself a favor and buy a ticket for this show. Believe me when I say its worth it.
Second: If you’re a “trance-live-virgin”, I dare say you couldn’t ask for a better artist to “take your “trance-live-virginity”. Simon’s gigs are almost legendary, and I promise you, you’re in for a treat
To answer your question I think there’s a good chance of hearing some Shpongle stuff at the end of the set. If he does play Shpongle, it’ll most likely be the more trancey end of the Shpongle-spectrum like Sixth revelation, Seventh revelation or around the world in a tea daze. Possibly even a tranceremix of Divine moments of truth. But then you never know… Simon’s always full of surprises. Personally I’m hoping for 7th revelation and shpongle’s remix of E-rection’s “Out here we are stoned”.
But I can tell you that on the last Live gigs I saw on video, he played some Shpongle stuff, which was well-receieved by his audience. So there’s a good chance you’ll catch some Shpongle stuff in on saturday. Hope to see you there ^^
I once went to Australia on my own to see Hallucinogen at Earthcore and I don’t regret it for a second. I’d travel around the globe to watch a Hallucinogen set (money and time permitting it of course) so be a real Hallucinogen-fan and make the trip from

Yes. For many years, I wasn’t that much into Hallucinogen, I thought it was nice but didn’t really get it. Younger Brother & Shpongle were in my opinion better projects.
That changed quite radically when I heard him live in the Spring 2006 Twisted party in London. Hallucinogen was by far the act that made the night. Suddenly the madness made perfect sense and I understood what it was all about. One of the nights I won’t ever forget.
Since that night I’ve also been absolutely sure that Shamanix is the best track ever.

If it’s a pure “Hallucinogen Live” set, then you will not be hearing Shpongle. I have seen Hallucinogen live about 4 or 5 times, and no Shpongle. It’s Simon with his laptop(s) and mixing board mixing classic Hallucinogen tracks with some brand new improv material. That being said, Hallucinogen live sets are really the best psy-trance you can ever see! GO TO THAT PARTY!
Keep your eye out for parties with Simon Posford DJ sets though… then you will hear Shpongle, Younger Brother, Hallucinogen, sometimes even Ott and Prometheus. Usually he will bill it as a Shpongle DJ set (Iike the NYC parties I attended in the summer of ‘05 and ‘06), but I did see him perform in NYC once (Jan ‘07) simply under the name Simon Posford, and it was one of the greatest DJ sets EVER (Shpongle tracks included Dorset Perception, When Shall I Be Free, 7th Revelation/Tea Daze (the best “mash up” ever), DMT, et. al.). But still, a live Hallucinogen set is a MUST-SEE.

Well the party in Denmark was pure Hallucinogen. You are right about it being th best psy-trance you can ever see.
Did you enjoy it inky? My girl and I had a great time. Didn’t think much of Bliss’s DJ set but his live set was better. Then Simon came on (I was able to meet him, shake his hand and have a quick word before he played. Then he went of to the bar to chat with some girlies see attached picture.(Sorry for the quality. I left my camera in my bag after having hassle with security so this is my phone camera and it didn’t like the lighting) My girly is wearing the one with the Hallucinogen t shirt. Anyway off to see both Hallucinogen LIve and Shpongle DJ set in Finland at the end of July. Can’t wait for that one.
Hallucinogen played here a couple months ago and was quite easily one of the best shows i have ever seen. He used my Nord synth for the show and I got him to autograph it afterwards.
