Hallucinogen

..Day 2 Nite will always have a special place in my heart… i was so proud when we finished that one…..20mins, 7/8 time sig… and just a really lovely vibe… i remember raj playing flute in my garden at dawn… you can still hear the birds in some places..mostly at the end… a beautiful pheasant waddled up to him while he played, and stood watching him, head cocked to one side…

We thank u Simon
For taking a deep look into the human conciousnes and translated it into music

I’ve just finished listening to shpongle 2 and around the world in a tea daze is one of the most stunning pieces of music I’ve every heard in my life.  Ironically the other pieces also happen to be made by SP and I find it hard to pin down a fav.

Sea of bliss is beautiful.

Day to night is a 20min epic love the D & B influence.

Seventh rev - blows me away when the beats drop out then slide back in.

Nothing lasts - so deep as with the rest of the album.

Behind closed eyelids - kinda sums up the whole hallucinatory experience for me.

Vapour rumors - love it cause I love talking about UFO’s.

A new way to say hooray - totally sums up the DMT experience for me.  SP with the use of the mckenna sample hits the nail with the ‘hmmmmmmmm’ then the bread wrapper which is jsut about exactly what it sounds like when you break through - this makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.

Raj & Simon - Namaste!!!

Not many artists I can say, that I don’t tire of hearing. Pink Floyd being one, however the works of Sphongle I haven’t tired of playing again and again yet. It’s been 3 years now. So I think, Mr Posford and Mr Ram I can safely predict the same will apply 3 years and beyond from now. I can always listen to Floyd whereas not the same applies to The Doors of whom I have great admiration for, however it’s not something that I can always listen too. With Sphongle I am able too. Thanks

I remember a late afternoon two years ago. I was walking from my parents house (in a very lush neighbourhood). There was a slow rain falling, but since it was pretty late the sun was low and still shining through the rain. I had the sun in my face and watched it paint the trees all golden. In my headphones I had “When the day turned to night”. That was awesome.

Though if I would present Shpongle to someone who’s never heard Shpongle before, I’d no doubt play “Around the world in a tea daze” (God, I love that title).

Cheers.

PS. For all you swedes; I’m working on a swedish shpongle fan-site; www.shpongle.se

ATDTIN—#1 with a bullet.  Just hit repeat…
DMoT is also up there.

But as a favorite album, I’d have to go with Tales.
Dorset Perception, Shpongleyes, Once Upon.., Around the World…, ALL the tracks are just amazing.  It is also the album that introduced me to the wonders of Shpongle, so it will always hold a special place in my heart.

I keep trying to love Nothing Last… as much as the other two, and it has it’s moments, but it keeps falling short unfortunately.  The production value can’t quite rival the other two either, and I wish there was some more of Raja’s flute.

I don’t see what all the fuss is about with Day Turns To Night!

I mean it’s a great song and I love the jeweled melody in the middle, plus the fact that we get 20 minutes of Shpongle all in one sitting, but I don’t understand why so many people are giving it ‘AAA++++++ WOULD LISTEN AGAIN’ wink

I think it’s the jungle breakbeats that make me wish for something a bit more tricked-out

But please try and convince me otherwise! Tell me why you love it

For one… it’s in 7/8 timing (or is it 7/4?).  The structure is uniquely beautiful… and it is probably the fastest slow track I have ever heard. wink

It is an epic…. just give it a listen while on a “Heroic Dose”

I’m going to go out on a limb here…
I can’t believe that no one else mentioned this song!

Saudade pt.II

The ethereal luminescience of Rajas flute is unparallelled….
The song takes you on a trip through the worlds and universes of the human mind.
The dreamscapes it creates are of divine order…

THIS IS the music of the shamans. THIS IS what psychedellic music is all about!
The insane beats and trippy melodies of Shpongle are nice and all…
...But this is what psychedellic music began as!

...This song is what music psychedelic is truly supose to be….

Okay, I’ll go equally out on a llimb here…what album is Saudade pt.II from?
Tell me where to get it I’m all ears!
edit: Never mind, found it on Discog.com.  Too bad both releases are impossible to find.

As for why I love ATDTIN, well, Neuro said it pretty well, but for me there is more.  It is the essence of what I feel is the Shpongle vibe.  All of their songs take you on a trip, but for me this one track is by far the most complete.  The only other song that I can think of right now with which to compare it to is Pink Floyd’s Shine On You Crazy Diamond.  Starts you off slow, builds you up, then brings you back down again.  And as the title suggests, it is a superlative track with which to enjoy a great sunset.
