OK, I’ve been giving this one some thought. It’s a real toughie cos I don’t think that there is a single bad shpongle song out there. There are so many awesome ones that it’s hard to make a decision but:

1. Around the world in a tea daze
(at least this one was easy) - all time favourite tune ever. From around 7:00 onwards just gets me every time. the wash of sounds, the chanting and the build to full-on cosmic shpongle with the orchestration, the return of raja’s flute playing the main motif. I always listen to it wishing it could just go on and on and on and on and build more and more and more!

2. Levitation Nation
which is wierd because when i first heard Nothing Lasts I really didn’t like it - something about the filters and the gates on the chanting. But it grew and grew and grew on me - it’s such a happy couple of minutes and you can really chant along to it as well. Watching Raja sing along to it the other night was a great moment

3. my head feels like a frisbee
for me the perfect encapsulation of a nitrous high at the beginning and then the return to normality as everything slips back into place and changes time from around 03:00 and then slides into that awesome carnival beat with the trumpets. just makes me want to get up and dance and go weeeeeeee!

Favourite album: Tales of the inexpressible

How about favourite sample? I’ve always loved McKenna’s phrasing on “the walls…..such they be….. are crawling with geometric hallucinations”

There are a couple of songs that I don’t often listen to, but I’ll always enjoy them when the time comes.

‘Shpongleyes’ and ‘Room 2 Om’ are the two that spring to mind

Since im new here i thought i’d add my favorites to.

When i first heards Shpongle it was in a world of warcraft exploration movie. “Once Upon the Sea of Blissfull Awareness” was the song. i watched that part of the movie again and again just to hear it. it will always be one of my favorites

though my alltime favorite must be “Behind Closed Eyelids” it can always cheer me up and make me see things from a new perspetive when im down. i can listen to it again and again forever and have done so many times the past few years

Mainly i just add all song to my playlist and set on shuffle though, none of them deserves to be forgotten

Shuffle?!?! oooh noooes! u gotta get urself the albums and listen to them chronologically in order to feel the continuity! Sorry, just my opinion.
Anyways, i wanna mention my favourite tracks from the 3 albums as others before me did.

Are you Shpongled?: Shpongle Falls - I just love the woodsound samples and the extremely laid back hi-hat. (Can’t help mentioning vapour rumors, also a favourite raspberry)

Tales of the inexpressible: (it’s so hard to decide…) Around the world in a Tea daze - Simply perfect…

Nothing lasts… But nothing is lost -  Beija Floor - the first 3-4 tracks of the album, gives me goosepimples at the very beginning when the gong sets in, and then again when the beat starts.

And! favourite quote: “Uuuh, this is no offence, but you are a robot aren’t ya?” Shpongleyes :D

Favourites

All brilliant, but the ones that stand out for me are:

1. Monster Hit - The bit where u hear farting/blowing raspberries and a cough. Then, that brilliant flute line comes in.

2. BCE - What can I say? Gets me nodding my head everytime I hear this. More great flute work and that crazy ending…. Wow!

3. Room 23c - Love the wispering at the beginning & end. The tribal chanting, flute, piano and drums come together to produce a great track.

4. My Head Feels Like A Frisbee - 8 mins 53 secs of superb creativity. I always picture myself at some sort of twisted carnival when I hear this. Full of surprises!

5. Outer Shpongolia - Beautiful intro followed by a haunting female vocal (reminds me a bit of some of Enigma’s work).

6. Linguistic Mystic - I love this because it showcases Posford’s ability at manipulating vocals in an amazing way. It’s short, but sweet.

7. Molecular Superstructure - The highlight for me is the kind of scat singing with the flute and Raja speaking in the background. What is he saying here?

8. The Nebbish Route - Another head-nodding/foot-tapping track. Beautiful melodies and super guitar riff.
