By monologues you mean voice samples and such?
From my experience you just have to know what you want and find it, or just get an ear for sampling things from movies. It’s almost like you must develop this subsection of your consciousness that is constantly analyzing everything you hear for sample-ability. Usually when I am watching a movie and I hear a line that could be a neat sample (profound, goofy, whatever) I write a note on my cell phone and go back later to sample it.
Of course my favorite is when this process works in reverse - ie. I identify samples in movies that I remember from certain songs. It’s actually kindof like the hilight of my day / week when that happens. I know that sounds sad, but I get really excited. Like when I finally re-watched the classic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory… I heard about 3-4 parts in that movie that I recognize as samples in a bunch of different songs.
Actually this reminds me of a question i’ve been meaning to ask.
