Have stumbled over some tracks lately which features samples used by Twisted artists, mainly Shpongle and Ott.

Recognised that the vocal samples Ott uses in the new track “Rogue Bagel” has been used by both Asura and Cell before. Cell used them on the track Orange, from the album “Phonic peace” (btw a great album), and Asura used them on the track “The Prophecy” from the new album “Life2” (which is a pure gem, just get it already).. Hopefully Ott weren’t aware of this wink

Also the track “Galaxies part 1” by Asura, from Life2 features vocal samples similar to some used in a Shpongle track I can’t remember, anyone remember which? And the Asura-track “Lost Eden”, from the “Lost Eden” record contains the same vocal samples as the Shpongle-track “Around the world in a tea daze”..

So my question is, where are these samples from? Are they just taken from a sample cd, or are they from some middle-eastern compilation cd or something? In either case, what are the name of the record/disc, I don’t want it for samples, just to listen to the original sounds so I can try to backtrack how the artists filter and vocode their material smile

Whilst watching the simpsons movie last night, I’m sure I heard the sample that’s used at the opening of DMT…. it was during Homer’s ephiphany trip-a-thon. I wonder if it was on purpose…...

psy is notorious for this. we’ve posted shit about this before.
there’s tons of samples on the twisted records that are in other places.

there’s one sample cd that everyone seems to have from eastwest (i think).

it’s crazy.

we can’t wait till we have the money to go to these foreign lands and record our own samples… woo!

Prosamples vol.08 - World vocals
Link
This one has some of the most used vocal samples.

Using the same samples is neither good or bad imo. If you use it in a special way, noone cares if others used it before.
On the other hand, if you add a sample as it is, then you really must be bored…
