Boards of Canada is one of those bands you have to listen to 10 times before you get at what they’re doing… Thing is, it seems really boring to begin with, but when you manage to settle down into the BoC vibe it’s one of the better musical experiences one can suffer. So you should play through that record 9 more times, and you’ll become a better being.

Cheers!

PS: some of my favourite BoC includes:
Trans Canada Highway EP
Music has the Right to Children
Forest Moon (a song), taken from the album A Few Old Tunes pt. 1 or 2

[quote author=“simonh”]interesting to see the ozrics still getting a mention.
does anyone have that ltd edition box set which looks like a corn flakes packet ?

I want that too! got everything else but that. love the ozrics!

this is tough, but…

Porcupine Tree - ‘The Sunday of life’ and ‘Recordings’
Shpongle - ‘Tales of the Inexpressible’
Ozrics - ‘The Hidden Step’ and ‘Swirly Termination’
Tool - ‘Undertow’
Opeth - Still Life
Juno Reactor - ‘Shango’
Jethro Tull - ‘Aqualung’
Hallucinogen - ‘The Lone Deranger’
David Bowie - ‘Low’
Vangelis - ‘Blade Runner’ OST

My favourite compilation:
The Secret Of the Thirteen Crystal Skulls

The 1200 mics track and the Astrix track (“Who’s brain…...?”) on that album are…......  not to mention the shpongle track

Younger Brother - Last days of gravity - I know this will be a definite favourite of mine!

in no real particular order (although NIN is my favorite album of all time)

nine inch nails - the downward spiral
shpongle - nothing lasts…
younger brother - a flock of bleeps
dredg - leitmotif
black sabbath - hard to choose… so lets go with the under the wheels of confusion box set smile
hybrid - wide angle
amon tobin - foley room (or out from out where… can’t decide)
lamb of god - as the palaces burn
ott - blumenkraft (although if skylon is as good as the samples sound, that will take this spot)
dredg - el cielo

i like a lot of other albums but those are the ones that came to mind…

i also really do love listening to the sandwich (i know, it’s a lame plug) but hey… if you write the music, you better damn well enjoy it! hahaha.

- slice two

These 2 albums are also excellent but I just couldn’t have them in my top ten. Maybe in the 11 - 15 slot

Well Last Days does make the top ten but I’m not sure what to drop cos Alan’s psychedelic breakfast on Atom Heart Mother is brilliant. Well the whole album is. But Last days is definitely in the top ten. Great album.
