I don’t really have a list, but some of my all time favorites are

Peter Gabriel - Up
Shpongle - Nothing Lasts & Ineffable Mysteries
Younger Brother - Flock Of Bleeps
BT - This Binary Universe
Ulver - Blood Inside & Perdition City
Tool - Lateralus
Dream Theater - Images And Words
Nine Horses - Snow Borne Sorrow
Shulman - In Search Of A Meaningful Moment
Orbital - In Sides
Hybrid - Wider Angle
Ott - Skylon
OSI - Free
David Bowie - Earthling
Tipper - The Seamless Unspeakable Something & Surrounded
Trifonic - Emergence
Katatonia - The Great Cold Distance

To name a couple. I’m currently in a huge psy phase, and the albums by Yggdrasil and Argaman are slowly making my… at least top 25 albums list. :p

Time to update the list. It’s been a while…

Shpongle - Ineffable Mysteries from Shpongleland
Frederik Ohr - Falling Through the Earth
Art of Noise - Seduction of Claude Debussy
Androcell - Efflorescence
Ott - Skylon
Ott - Hallucinogen in Dub
Aphex Twin - Drukqs
Jon Hopkins - Insides
Argaman - My Little Forest
Concept - Concept

It’s funny to see how some albums just seem to stick around…while others change in and out.  smile

Very hard topic, but I just have to try:

2 to 5 (in no particular order): Younger Brother - Flocks of Bleeps, Infected Mushroom - BP Empire, Carbon Based Lifeforms - World of Sleepers
5 to 7 (in no particular order): Shpongle - Nothing Lasts… But Nothing Is Lost, Shpongle - Tales of the Inexpressible, Leftfield - Leftism
8 to 10 (in no particular order): The Zap! - Big Bang, Prometheus - Corridor of Mirrors, Nagual Sound Experiment - Invisible Movements

Honorable mentions (in no particular order): Astrix - Coolio EP (but then just the IM remix, which is on its own good enough to get to #1… the rest I never listen.), Ott - Blumenkraft, Black Uhuru - In Dub, IM - Converting Vegetarians (The Other Side), Prometeus - Robot-O-Chan, Air - Moon Safari, Sabers of Paradise - Haunted Dancehall, Chemical Brothers - Exit Planet Dust, Bob Marley - Exodus, Massive Attack - Blue Lines, Juno Reactor - Shango, Shpongle - Ineffable Mysteries from Shpongleland, Shpongle - Are You Shpongled, Asian Dub Foundation - Community Music, Gnarls Barkley - St. Elsewhere, Gorillaz - Gorillaz, Amon Tobin - Out From Out Where, Trent Reznor - Natural Born Killers OST, Stevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of Life, Sisters Of Mercy - A Slight Case of Overbombing, AC/DC - Back in Black, Depeche Mode - Violator…

Pfft.. I give up. Any of these is good enough to be #1.. and many many more. I guess you can’t say what is the best album of all times simply because it all hangs on set and setting. A perfect album at the wrong moment can be terrible, and I guess the reverse can be said as well.

1. Akira Yamaoka - Silent Hill Origins (The best album I’ve ever heard. Been trying for years to find something that sounds as great as this. Haven’t found anything close.)

2. Black Era - ...Then… (Great album. Was released for free at aquietbump.com. Amazing and incredibly original Trip-Hop. Only problem is the vocalist; I can’t understand a damn thing shes says. It’s easy to ignore her, though.)

3. Aes Dana - AfterMath, Memory Shell, Leylines (I couldn’t choose, they’re all so wonderful)

4. Ananda Shake - Inside The Sound (Yes, it’s Full-On Psytrance, but it’s much deeper and melodic than most Psytrance albums. Taught me a lot about melody.)

5. Belong - October Language (Never heard anything like it before. I always listen to the song October Language whenever I’m nervous, and it always helps.)

6. Dethklok - The Dethalbum (Yes, they’re a fake band, but Brendan Small has made some of the best metal I’ve ever heard. Very melodic, never boring.)

7. Portishead - Dummy (Like almost all of the tracks, but hated the song It’s A Fire. Love the heavy drums.)

8. Evol Intent - Era of Diversion (An album with a message and a ton of diverse tracks. There are Hip-Hop, Breakcore, Neurofunk, Dubstep, Digital Hardcore, IDM, and Glitch tracks, among others. Enjoyed it very much)

9. Burial - Untrue (I used to hate this one, too, since I would have nothing to do with music that sampled RnB. Got over that; enjoyed the music)

10. Gas - Nah Und Fern (Took me a LONG time to like it. Hated it at first, but started noticing that the songs change over time, which satisfied my need for development, yet it stayed the same, providing me with very deep music. Can be played loud without hurting your ears too, since there aren’t many high frequencies)

Also:
11. Venetian Snares - Rossz Csillag Alatt Sz

hard if not impossible to find those albums. 8)
i’ll try to compile a list with my top ten albums - ever (till today) in no particular order.

before i start with the real list, i’ll throw in the rather obvious twisted-nominations first:
shpongle - tales of the inexpressible, are you shpongled
hallucinogen - twisted
younger brother - a flock of bleeps
prometheus - corridor of mirrors

and now for the non-twisted albums:
atmos - tour de trance, overlap
astral projection - another world, amen
solar fields - earthshine, movements
mr peculiar - infinite evolution
makyo - yakshini
infected mushroom - b.p. empire
steve reich - drumming or music for 18 musicians, can’t decide which
ludovico van beethoven - 9th
johann sebastian bach - goldberg variationen, brandenburischen konzerte
koxbox - the great unknown

and some honorary mentions, which have been in my top ten for very long:
the doors - l.a. woman
pink floyd - the dark side of the moon
the who - who’s next
fleetwood mac - rumours
air - moon safari
electric universe - cosmic experience

and stuff that entered my sonic horizon just recently and with which i’m over-feeding my ears at the moment. i’d like to add all those to my ‘top ten - ever’, but they’ll have to stand the test of time, just like the other albums smile. pending:
koan - talking stones, when silence is speaking
zen mechanics - holy cities
vacuum stalkers - scifi animation
xerxes - the mirror formula
argaman - my little forest

Bejeezus. This could be tough.

At the moment my top ten would be:

1.Shpongle- Ineffable Mysteries
2.Esbjorn Svensson Trio- Leucocyte
3.Younger Brother- Last Days of gravity
4.Noisia-Split the Atom
5.Damien Rice- 9
6.Sufjan Stevens- Michigan
7.Bjork- Post
8.Animals as Leaders- Animals as Leaders
9.Jeff Buckley- Grace
10.Ott- Skylon

I know in the topic title it says ‘ever’, but If I tried to think of the top 10 of all time, i’d be dead before it was finished.

Oh would I ever like to get high with all of you! And spend two weeks on an island with an impeccable sound system, your CD collections and crates of booze. And chicks.

OOOH here we go !!!!

My refined list of the top ten albums that make my spine shiver and get my mind raving are:

1. BT - This Binary Universe
Oh yeah. Quite simply the most fantastic experience of my life the first time I popped in that dvd.

2. Shpongle - Nothing Lasts.. But Nothing Is Lost
The first Shpongle album to make it’s way to my speakers. I knew it was a force to be reckoned with as soon as Botanical Dimensions spiraled into my mind’s eye.

3. Argaman - My Little Forest
An odd experience that was overflowing with distorted charm. Nothing gets me more excited than returning to the forest after every track.

4. Younger Brother - Last Days of Gravity
Of course this would be here. Of course…

5. Yggdrasil - Prose Edda
Its all fun and games, yet it still comes out with a profound wave!

6. Shpongle - Are You Shpongled?
Will always have a special place in my heart as the pioneering album to my favourite genre.

7. Bluetech - Elementary Particles/Prima Materia
As soon as the weather gets cold, I am instantly attracted to this masterpiece of ambient mood and groove.

8. Solar Fields - Movements
Takes to me to another universe and throws me into the darkness of mystery.

9. Shpongle - Ineffable Mysteries From Shpongleland
Quite simply the most well rounded and interesting album of all time. Some of my favourite tracks EVER are on this album.

10. Infinity Project - Mystery Of The Yeti Part 1
I really couldn’t resist. No matter how dated it sounds it is still an incredible experience.
