I can’t remember where I read it but I know Posford went to Alex Greys gallery in new york and also mentioned that he’d tried to arranged for him to do the art for Shpongle 3 but it didn’t happen.

Any clues to the above request or is it classified?

I’m gonna get across either this year or next to the gallery before it moves…..

www.alexgrey.com

Check the Albert Hoffman tribute print as Shpongle mask is featured on there…how cool :D

Alex Grey would be the perfect man for the job.
After getting Storm for the YB cover, I definitely think they should get someone awesome to do the new Shpongle cover

Perfect

If Alex Grey does the artwork, I think three of the most visionary artists of transcendental experiences will be working in concert. It would’ve been a milestone for the psychedelic community I think smile

Count my vote for Alex Grey doing the cover!  It would be perfect symbiosis; not only would Alex’s cover undoubtedly do justice to the music contained in the disc, but Shpongle would also undoubtedly make an album worthy of an Alex Grey image.

That reminds me…I must check out The Chapel of Sacred Mirrors.

That reminds me…I must check out The Chapel of Sacred Mirrors.

It’s phenomenal. Especially when www.28thday.com throws their Entheocentric Salon parties there. Occasionally they get some very talented psytrance artists to spin, and Alex usually paints live throughout the whole party (til about 4-5 AM). It’s a must for any psytrance fan/ psychedelic being in general.

i wanted to suggest this for a while—a visionary artist called andrew jones who has done some demos with grey, and is currently doing on-stage paintings with Bluetech and other musicians

Wow, Andrew Jones’ artwork is jaw-dropping.  It’s as if the psychedelia of an Alex Grey merged with the twisted macabre of H.P.Lovecraft.  It’s a bit too dark for a good Shpongle cover, but his art would be perfect for guys like B. Lustmord, Ionosphere, Raison d’Etre or even vidnaObmana.

Thanks a lot for that link!

Posford did say in an interveiw that he went to the studio in New York for a look around, maybe then he also laid the foundation for the 4th album?

It wouldn’t suprise me if Alex Grey comes across for the gig in Oct, I think it will be high profile… LOL

do you all think that the cover art of the 4th album will continue with the past tradition of having the shpongle mask included on it?

It may be something we’ve come to expect from shpongle album art, but I think with nothing lasts they reached the limit of innovative use of the shpongle mask with the circuit boards. so if they do use it, it will be interesting to see how they implemented it into the cover.

Good point, trooth.

Although now that I think about it, ‘Tales…’ did at least make it a bit smaller, instead of right in the middle

I’d still be interested to see what an Alex Grey interpretation of the mask would look like, however!
