He seemed real enough to me… perhaps I’m too trusting.

The Turing Test is a bit of a misnomer, if truth be told. Mimicking something is never the same as being something. Probably even Turing realised that, though it was a useful opening benchmark.

I think that for as long as computers are connected, they’ll never acquire consciousness. It’s interesting that the latest research is all about separate ‘robots’ using heuristic programming within their own bodies, and letting them evolve naturally. That’s the way forward, I reckon.

I see Nicholas Humphrey has a new book out on consciousness, Soul Dust - a very interesting author.

I have been reading and listening to the audiobook from Eckhart Tolle. The Power of Now. Highly recommended.

The silence and space all around is one of the keys to entering inner peace, The present moment. The Now.

Books I found informative and helpful on my quest to discover myself and the world as I imagine it:

The Science of Mind by Ernest Holmes

My Life As a Seer (lost memoirs) of Edgar Cayce (in particular, retellings of what his grandfather was purportedly capable)

Lucid Dreaming: Gateway to the Inner Self by Robert Waggoner

How to Meditate: A Guide to Self Discovery by Lawrence LeShan (reading this now)

Just plain fun that I read over and over:

The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings by the great J.R.R. Tolkien

Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling

Brave New World by Aldous Huxley

Planned future reading (comments and recs invited):

Life Itself: A Memoir by Roger Ebert

Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson

DMT: The Spirit Molecule (etc.) by Rick Strassman

“It is by attempting the impossible that we reach the highest level of possible”  probably misquoted, and by a great British author, I will find the right reference..

I just finished Wizard of the Upper Amazon, it was a very awesome read.  Not only awesome insights to traditional and sacred ayahuasca use and the shaman, but it also gives you an idea of life in the jungle.  I want to read the sequal, i think its called Rio Tigre and Beyond, but i cant find it i think it might be out of print.  Ill have to check out Ayahuasca in my blood too.
