Sooo you listen let us assume a third time….

I couldn’t resist getting in a little bit of a sample there .

I am just wondering what all you big YB fans are expecting from the new album that is due for release 6 months ago, I mean next month?
From what I can gauge from the few samples I have heard on myspace/youtube and the samples in the shop it appears they have gone off on quite a different tangent with this album. Gone is the tomfoolery and the whacky samples, blips and skwelches. It apeears to be a more serious and grown up, funky yet blissfull vibe. Was this a conscious effort to appeal to a different audience? Although A Flock of Bleeps was an entirely new and laterally thinking type of psychedelic album, it still most definitely appealed to the psytrance fan, perhaps to listen to in between listening to full on weird trance.
Of course I originally got into listening to YB through knowing about Simon and Benji’s other work and I was a big fan of good psytrance, but I think we all moved on from that together (you did didn’t you? lol) and releases such as A Flock of Bleeps, Blumenkraft, Tales of the Inexpressible etc definitely heavily influenced the type of music that pushes my brain buttons. It was the progression I had been hoping for from the predictable psytrance.
So is the new YB album another progression in a new direction that reflects the maturity and new musical talent of Simon n Benji? Or is this so far departed from why we all originally started to listen to the masterful musical wizadry from these guys that it will not appeal to YB’s original fans?
There is no doubt in my mind that this album will be a success, tracks such as All I Want and Psychic Gibbon will appeal to a vast number of people, possibly even I. A slight problem though, the first thing that sprung to mind whilst watching them play at Brixton was that they sound quite similar to Air :?  , I am pretty sure this wouldn’t be the kind of reaction the guys would be hoping for from their fans. I do hope when the album finally arrives and I have been able to absorb it fully that it will sit proudly amongst my pile of classic albums, yet I can’t help but be nervous that it wont. I guess we will see

p.s. I do hope there is a bit of…... “When the children have gone away on holiday and the staff have gone home… I’ve got the place to myself… I rather enjoy turning up some loud rock music and… re-living the old days… go on a three day binge or something like that…”

Don’t know the words, but what really made me excited about YB-AFOB was the voice/melodies bended sounds, although it was in a lot of tracks, I really liked it (and still do). Si P told (or rather wrote to) me that it’s quite different than the other one, more like a band, like Pink Floyd.

I think that I will like it a lot, and I also really like ‘I Am A Freak’ (available on the Twisted DVD - Bonus Audio Disc). Heard the MySpace taster’s too often, now I need the full track, and I hope it’s a lot longer than those tasters. I don’t know if I’ll be as stuck into YB2, like with AFOB, but I hope so, and think I’ll like it a lot (main album I’m waiting for since time immemorial (...or rather, since this or end of last year :mrgreen:)), and if I’m not so happy, I’ll just keep listening to Hallucinogen. I guess YB2’ll be more melodic, but nice and cosy to listen to. Maybe Si P needs to save some hard hitting, fast, rythmic beats for Hallucinogen 3.

Si P if you read this, I know, very unlikely, please make Hallucinogen 3 hard, not near as soft as Shpongle (just got me thinking, what you said on the Twisted DVD), but more like Deranger, Trancespotter, Alpha Centauri, Gamma Goblins, Fluoro Neuro Sponge, Jiggle of the Sphinx, LSD or Solstice (the latter 2 aren’t really hard, but VERY good IMO) etc…............(in other words, still keep the flow of your other 2 albums). You can play around with the bass etc., but just not so calm, since we wanna be ON FUCKING FIRE!!!

hmmm…what do I expect? Well I haven’t listened to any of the sample songs in the past while but when I did, I must admit that I wasn’t exactly excited. But from what my previous expereinces have taught me about Simon and Benji is that I never fully understand its potential from just one listening or even several. I admit it takes me a few listenings, I need time to catch all those small sounds that truly make up the song and make it so classic to me. Like even now, URbeautyful is just fucking crack to me. I just can’t get enough of that song and I had robot-o-chan for quite a while now and have looped it many many times.(Thanks for that album Benji) But anyways I’m kinda drifting off of subject, but alls I know is that when I get enough money for the album, I’m buying it and looping it cause I KNOW it will be creative original and hopefully not dancy….(I just can’t stand dancy electronic music) That is truly what leads me to simon and benji’s music. It’s creative originality that DOESN’T make you dance. Leave that shit for tiesto and other crap “musicians” BTW, Soma is the best song on cooridor.

oh and Benji,is there any way to get a hold of your other collabs/singles/any other demos/b-sides? I know you had a few songs on tip records but honestly I think you guys should make it easier to get a hold of your stuff(by that I mean make it available for sale at the Twisted store) It’s topo hard to buy a cd or 2 from tip and buy one from twisted’s store and then go off on psytrance.com’s store and buy some other collab and all that bull, get me? I just want the music! :D

I’m confused. Supposed to be released in June and there are reviews for this album. Simonh lists it number seven in his top ten albums. So it hasn’t been released or what?

I thought it’d had been released and I had been to sloppy to get one quickly and it’s out of stock (that’s what it says in the shop)

After hearing the samples it certainly sounds more progressed (I can see why you say grown up skwelch) But I still feel that YB vibe to it. The sounds are more finely tuned. It seems a great mix judging by the tasters. You would expect a progression due to experiences and things that happen over the years. It influences the music in my opinion.
I like the album cover, A little Floyd Wish You Were Here feel to it.

It was not released! Simonh is one of the founders, with Si P, of Twisted Records, so of course he heard it.

Out of Stock is because the item’s listed but it wasn’t released yet, when it’s released it won’t display that message. If you register to the newsletter on the main page, you’ll be notified when it’s available for pre-order, and most likely they will also add a message to the news section (also on the main page), when it’s available.

Yeah thanks Ray. It’s out October 1st or thereabouts. I am subscribed to the newsletter. Anyway it is all clear, just was a little confused with the out of stock message and the release date saying June. Plus there are quite a few reviews for it.

I’m not very excited about this album. I really loved the first YB album but listening to the samples it just doesnt sound the way i expected a new YB album to sound like.
Sounds like a different band playing. Thats fine but I just don’t like it at all.
I feel like they wanted to make it all sound more like a band but just for the reason of making it sound like a band.

I think we should wait to hear the whole album before we come to a final decision. From the samples it sounds like I’m going to dig it but who knows…..

How funny would it be if Ott’s album came out first

Also awesome is that the album’ll be released (and hopefully signed :mrgreen:). Why is it that when I really wait for an album it takes longer than ever for me to get my hands on it? When I’m not so desperate it’s like available before I even know it.

anyway I’d be excepting something weirder than the album before , lets say the delay pissed me off but i’d wait and wait   8)  gl !
