oooooo A Shpongle live show. A rarity but if true then it will be worth dropping nearly all things to get to it. England would work for me. Get to see the family as well
Where did you read this Sivanesa?

Looks like that there could well be a Shpongle gig live in London next year for the release of the new album..

A thought occurs:

If the April 2007 live show had gone ahead as planned, it would have been great to see how they translated the third album into a live performance

If they wait until after the fourth album, I’m guessing they’d want to squeeze a lot of that into the show as well (to the detriment of the ‘Nothing Lasts’ material, which hasn’t yet ever been performed)

I wonder which songs from Nothing Lasts would make the cut in the end?

If I’m not completely mistaken, I remember them playing Levitation Nation/Periscopes of Consciousness at both the twisted live gig and at Glade festival, and at Glade they also played ...But nothing is lost which was stunning. So they’ve already started playing stuff from Nothing Lasts live, and it works really really well. The thing is though, that they haven’t practiced much playing live together, so I gather they won’t be very experimental with the tracks they play live. But that’s no problem for me, as the live sets I’ve seen has been sublime :D

I didn’t realise either of those gigs were the full live Shpongle concert setup?

Can anyone else confirm?

No they were both DJ sets. The only time shpongle have performed live to my knowledge was at the soulclipse festie (where the great DMT vid is from)

Well then..

Sorry for not being 100% clear about it being a DJ set performance, but then again, I’m pretty sure I’ve read a Si P interview where he said that Shpongle won’t perform a proper live set again, since they had a really bad experience with it some years ago in Israel. Maybe I’m mistaken, but at least they were awesome at Glade (and of course Simon at the Twisted Live).

But yeah, probably not right to call it live shows, since it was only mixing going on (but as a DJ, I tend to count live mixing as live performing, hehe)

I agree.  I’d like to see some more performance going on, or at least some more varied mixes… It’s hard to get in the zone when the Master of Ceremonies doesn’t seem to be actively involved in on-the-fly creation of the music… But Si’s live mixes do create quite an amazing atmosphere for the music, so maybe that’s how it’s supposed to be
