Hi there,

I just recently had a rather overwhelming experience with the ‘A Flock Of Bleeps’ album, and ever since I cant stop wondering:

Is it possible to obtain this amazing work of uniquely, mind-blowing tunes on Vinyl as well? Cus somehow all I can find are the CD’s.
Can anyone please let me know?

B2 - Younger Brother - Even Dwarves Start Small (Alternative Mix)

Hallucinogen / Younger Brother - The Twisted Remixes

I have to admit I was surprised to find out not all Twisted albums were on vinyl. I know all the Shpongles and Hallucinogens are, but I would have thought most of the Twisted albums would be popular enough to warrent a run? Or do the others simply not shift enough units?

Si B was telling us he’s not even sure the next Hallucinogen album will be on vinyl, surely not? It’s a real sign of the times when a new Hallucinogen album can’t justify a run of vinyl!

It might have something to do with the quality of the sound on vinyl, although thats nothing more than a wild guess. I mean: A flock of bleeps has a very distinct and higly addictive kind of sound, and my own experience is that you tend to play it on and on - especially in the beginning…So perhaps they thought it would be a better idea to release just a CD-version of the album, in order to preserve the sound and with that, what is to me, the overall experience of listening to this specific album, as I can imagine that a vinyl would wear down up to 20 times faster than a cd. But. as I stated before, this is nothing but a mere guess.

It’s still a shame that it isn’t available though, so let’s just hope the new Halucinogen will be :D

Vinyl sounds every bit as good as CD, often better (as it has that velvety warmth and organicness to it), so I doubt sound quality is the reason the album didn’t make vinyl. It probably has more to do with the massive drop in sales vinyl has seen over the past few years.

My guess would be that the general population stopped using vinyl 20 years ago and there are only a few diehard DJ’s who actually use vinyl anymore (many of them too young to remember why we went from vinyl to cd in the first place).

I’m 30 years old and can’t remember why we moved from vinyl to CD. Is it because they’re smaller and cheaper to produce? Maybe it’s to do with sound quality, CD’s can sound cleaner and clearer, but then they can also sound somewhat hard and cold compared to their analogue predecessor.

In an ideal world everyone would own both a CD player and a turntable, most types of electronic music would be released on CD, with classical, folk and other acoustic material released on vinyl.

My point exactly, That would have made you what, 10, when they started making CD’s.

Sound quality was the biggest reason, as well as durability. Sure vinyl can give you that warm fuzzy feeling, then you realize that fuzz is white noise and your needles need replacing.

Each to their own I guess but for me vinyl is purely for nostalgia. Besides my decks are getting a bit outdated nowdays.

well…

cd’s are smaller, easier to dispatch and store and are cheaper

i love the analogue sound of vinyl but cd’s i’m afraid just do allow for better sound over a massive rig.  Its a bigger sound….

they very rarely have vinyl decks at big parties any more…  its a shame.. but there we go…

i’m sure we will make a few Hallucinogen3 vinyls…. but they’ll probs be limited edition collector items and thus… pretty expensive…  If we got enough requests… it might warrant us prinitng Younger Brother on Vinyl.
