“Musically what have you been up to?

I really enjoyed it working with Merv on Metal Sharon, our objective was always just to make each other laugh… with delight and amazement! But trying to get time to finish it off has proved extremely tricky. I am moving into a new house soon, where I will get the 3rd Hallucinogen album underway.”

I think everyone knows that it will be released some day but what do you expect of it. I prey to Simon that it will be classic, I hope so much it wil sound like Twisted, I expect a very infinite and classic goa trance album which has nothing to do with today

I’m expecting it to be a lot more varied than previous albums

Simon’s had so much experience working with Shpongle and Younger Brother, I’m sure the idea of a straight-out trance album would seem so constricting now.

So I’m expecting slower BPMs, luscious dub sections (inbetween tracks), and I’m sure those hilarious voice samples will make us laugh even more

In my opinion hallucinogen shoud stay clean from younger brother and shpongle influences, I wont pure generic infinite psychedelic trance, what do fermale voicesamples have to do in a halllucinogen goa track?

[quote author=“radi6404”]what do fermale voicesamples have to do in a halllucinogen goa track?

I definitely don’t want any fermale voice samples in my hallucinogen track.

Female samples are ok…..but fermale is just crossing the line…..

:D

So wat do you guys expect fro it, I hope Mr Godford will read this himself and take it in consideration.

I expect nothing but the most mind melting insane psytrance album music ever produced. (no pressure Simon… )
I want Posford to do whatever his mind, heart, and soul tells him to do.
I want to hear something I’ve never heard before!!

It will be wonderful no matter what.  raspberry

I think Posford will keep it totally different to Shpongle etc and come up with something that is jaw dropping and will suprise everyone in the new direction. LOL

I think if simon were to ever read this topic, he might find specifics more interesting than “greatest album ever”.
I personally would like to see simon do some dark psytrance or forest trance, to see him make music from the darker side of the mushroom, to see simon focus on the kickdrum and bass line; a darker bass line that starts off “monotone/one note” and alternates notes like in forest trance and dark trance.; to move the crowd hypnotically using the power of the kickdrum and bass line, with a minimal but complicated analogue and digital effects.

To many artists focus on having effects and way too many sound tracks in a song and think thats what will make their psytrance move people on the dance floor. To many artists have weak kickdrums and bass lines, but use EQ’s on them and think that it makes it better.

Thats just my 2 cents though, I would really like to see simon’s skills in making a story around dreams and visions from psychedelics; to convey that in the music in a serious tone dwelling into a few dark and forest trance tracks, really f^$#ing with your head.
forest and dark trance is usually 150BPM and up, and sounds beautiful.

However whatever simon makes I know it will be worth a buy. can’t wait.

I’d prefer a return to the punchier, harder, more bass driven sound of Twisted, than the Lone Deranger style.
I love both albums, but Twisted I feel is more aimed at the peak-time dancefloor.

Don’t see the need for it to be anything other than a pure Psy Trance album, while you’ve got Shpongle and Younger Brother etc, to cater for your different listening needs.  smile

OK, I want it pure psy and hard. Songs as awesome as Deranger (varying along the whole track) or LSD (calm but beautiful) and some “hypnotic” stuff (same constant parts) like Alpha Centauri. Some voice stuff in between, beginning or end, but not a lot, and not too long voice stuff. The voices need ...or rather HAVE to be distorted!!!!

Some say they loved Shabby Trance (and I am happy it got released), but I think it sounds quite incomplete, good parts but missing hardness, bass, speed etc.

Influences can be good, but since Shpongle, YB are less hard than Hallucinogen, I think it would get softer. Seventh Revelation is good though also if it were from Hallucinogen, and the YB-FOB voice twisting stuff could be a cool influence for Hallucinogen sounds/voices samples (short ones!).

No dub, that belongs to HinD.

...That’s my idea.

Please no punchy kick and bass - this is one thing that bores the heck out of me, a dull kick and some sub bass is enough to cover the bottom end. To me hallucinogen is all about the mid-high end - crazy tripped out melodies jumping all over the place, vocal swirls that are distorted and make me think of dancing elves and crazy creatures of a land unseen, processing effects and panning that makes my head spin - more of this and I will be one happy camper smile

I think everyone is worrying too much about the small details. The kick, the bass, the synths, who cares? It’s Simon Posford, he knows how to control his basslines and EQ his layers. Trust in his Twisted ways.

In my opinion what makes a good Hallucinogen album is the unity and flow from track to track. The entire album is a journey. I rarely ever listen to 1 or 2 tracks when i listen to Hallucinogen, 90% of the time I listen to the entire album front to back or don’t listen at all. So even if he decides to make an entire full on album, if it’s Hallucinogen 3 it will be the best full on album you’ve heard.

Another thing I’m expecting is to be disappointed at first. That happened to me on both of the first 2 albums; i bought the album, listened through it and thought it wasn’t as good as I expected. But both of those albums i’ve now listened to at least 100 times more than any of my other albums. So i wouldn’t be surprised if this happens again with the 3rd one.

Not worried too much about the details as such, I’d just like some thumping,  brainmelting trance, with the depth and production quality you expect from Simon P.

I’m happy to accept that this craving may not be shared by everyone.

fuck slow bpm tracks.

hallucinogen should be how hallucinogen is. Full psychedelic music for the dance floor.

i hope simon sir releases what ever he has without reading these forums. cause his choice of music is lot better than anyone elses in here.
