I was very excited to get the new newsletter today. this is what it says:

TWSLET009

As spring approaches, the evidence of a hard winters grind comes to fruition bringing us many things to tell you. Get comfy, and prepare for a serious shake up in the world of Twisted Records. Keep reading to hear about a new Twisted MP3 download site, Shpongle LIVE in the UK in October, a Hallucinogen in Dub LIVE album, huge changes to prices in the Twisted online shop and some sneaky new Younger Brother T-Shirts.

It will be our great pleasure to reveal to you in the next few weeks, the new Twisted Downloads website. Soon you can buy all our releases direct from us in top quailty 320kbps MP3 format (DRM Free) for the cheapest price on the internet! We will be releasing a horde of unheard bits and pieces from deep inside the dusty Twisted DAT drawer as well as some more recent remixes of your favorite Twisted artists. There will also be many other tracks and remixes from over the years, that have previously been reserved only for the Twisted label Live & DJ sets.

We are finalising the last pieces of content and making sure its all working beautifully and then we will send you a final email to let you know its up and running and ready for you to purchase the music! You’ll need paypal so if you haven’t already got it then you should! Its a useful thing to have and it will be well worth it just to use our download site!

Releases

Hallucinogen fans can start to get excited as we can confirm that new Hallucinogen material has been started with a view to an album. Shpongle’s fourth album already well under way with 3 tracks (30mins) already done! We keep getting excited calls from the studio about these latest tracks being the best they’ve ever done! We’ve heard the results and they’re not lying! The only way to hear these tracks before they’re released is to come to the LIVE gig in October! (see below for more info) Ott’s Skylon album has been offically released in the shops now and has been very well received. Thank you all for your feedback. Next up in the foreseeable future will be:

TWSCD34 - Hallucinogen In DUB - LIVE from Brixton Academy 2007

In May 2007, Twisted LIVE in Concert gave us the opportunity to record a unique LIVE set from Hallucinogen in DUB. Featuring Ott, Posford, Youth, Jackson & ‘the drummer’, it is a beautiful acoustic performance of the classics you know and love under a new arrangement from the live performance. There are also several new tracks. You have to love those virgin DUB remixes. A solid hour of heavy grooves and upbeat psychedelic sofa monsters. Complete with crowd noises, this release will bring the energy of the event into your living room. The excitement felt by thousands as they watched these seasoned professionals firing out their electro-acoustic meanderings. You will soon be able to preview this release in the online shop!

I totally agree Adam, I’m also hoping to see some rare Hallucinogen tracks in the downloads section, such as Pipeworm, Bubble ‘N’ Tweak, etc. I’ve heard people rave about these tracks, I wanna hear them too!

I’m hoping to find some of Posford’s oldies but goodies in this new download shop. Tunes that are impossible to come by, like Magik, or some infernal machine stuff (bouncing with joy)

Have lot’s of Hallucinogen songs, except:

Orphic Resonance, Space Pussy, Angelic Particles, Astral Pancakes, Thugs In Tye-Dye, Shamanix (Remix),  Spike, Solstice (Remix). Magik and Soothsayer (Remix) (? I have the Lysurgeon Warning Remix.

Then a bunch of remixes he did of songs from other artists I also don’t have..

Had all Albums digitally (mp3) and now I bought all albums (In Dub I still have to order) and all singles (even LSD, except, I don’t have Space Pussy :(  )

I think you can still get pipeworm on the Tip compilation God save the machine?

They’ll probably put all the deleted stuff on the download section but to be honest the unrealesed stuff I’d prefer on CD - but its better than nothing!!  Hope the full on remix of T Daze is available.

Nothing mentioned on the letter about any of the following:-

Unusual Suspects 3, Backroom beats, Twisted Chill compilation :?:

So it looks like the release schedule may look something like….??

Hallucinogen in dub live - May/June 2008
Prometheus down tempo album - Oct 2008
Shpongle 4 - Feb 2009
Hallucinogen 3 - Sept 2009

What do you think :?:

Still, rather later than not at all smile

If they are gonna release tracks digitally, please use some lossless format like flac instead of mp3. CD quality are superior to mp3, and there are actually people out there that still care about quality raspberry
Or, release them on CD aswell.

I encode all my CDs to lossless audio formats and then store them on my harddrive. Combine that with a good soundcard and a decent amplifier and speakers and you got awesome sound. Mp3 is only good for portable devices or for people that have no clue. The better stuff you have at home, the more annoying does mp3s get.

Great music deserves great quality. It enhances the experience :D

I’m a bit concerned that there will be alot of download material which will not come out on CD.  Sure it is not worth it for the label most probably but I just don’t like down loads even if the quality is CD standard, I prefer the solid disc.  I love to have Strangled Cat on a new compilation album.

Probably from Twisteds veiwpoint it isn’t financially viable to put out everything on CD now which is a shame

I hate downloading music too.

Luckily the CD still seems to be the media of choice for the Psy scene.
I buy a lot of techno / electronica too though and more and more releases are download or 12” only.
I’d rather do without than download stuff and 12” singles are for DJs only imho. By the time you’ve sat down to listen to one, you’ve got to get up again and turn the thing over!

I can’t bring myself to pay good money for a file on my p.c. with no artwork etc, that I would just burn straight to CD anyway to listen to.
I’ve got a decent hifi with great speakers, so why would I want to listen to music at a far inferior quality through my p.c?
