wow!  now that’s a pair of speakers!  it’s like how tropical fish are always more impressive than imaginings of them are.  if i was doodling hifi kit, i would never dream speakers looked like that somewhere!  I like how it looks as if they’re about to launch into space!

I would love it if there was a person next to them for scale that came up about half way on that picture : ) they should use them for making versions of neolithic archtecture!

i get the whole thing of function driving form - but i could sit and listen to the scandia/b&w pod stuff even unplugged

there’s a handmade rig of bunch of nautilus shaped speakers that set up in a surround radial rig.  i’d love it if they joined up to form a vibrant train pulled by a team on a huge multicycle.  soz can’t find picture - but it’s defo a real world thing already!

my academic background is in mechanical engineering, IP law & psychology - but i just downsized to owning only a little more than i can carry and am taking a bit of a breather to do bits of elderly relative looking out for & have a rethink about what’s really important for me lifewise.  Interestingly creativity feels as much a priority as anything.  I have a sound making interface idea that came to me in a dream a while ago but I need to teach myself practical electronics before i can progress much and increasingly i can’t find the music i want to hear so that’s the go for a creative hobby.

Creativity is an interesting thing…

I figure that creators as people, have no choice but to create. To my mind the intention behind the creative is what resonates with (or speaks to) particular people. That is to say that creative souls find a deeper sense of community (e.g. one that transcends respect only) when they connect with other creators that have a similar intention of creation but express that intention through a unique modality or medium (e.g. is Alex Grey’s art really that different from Shpongle?)

Myself, I am completing a PhD in law, looking at the impact of quantum mechanics on human rights and international law. One of my loci of comittment is to bring rigour to this area as many new age people have ‘claimed’ quantum mechanics and in so doing have made legitimate natural philosophical exploration very difficult. One pursuit that has got me through and inspired me over the last three years of tweaky research has been listening to good music consciously. I built my system from my scholarship payments and a modest teaching load. I have tuned the space painstakingly and have a pretty decent system for listening to music, but give me an instrument (electronic or otherwise) and I suck!

Creativity really is an interesting thing.

It sounds like you are in an interesting place - it is certainly a noble thing to be carer. When do feel ready to get some material posessions, a nice stereo is a rewarding place to grow some roots…

Good luck with building your interface, can you tell me more about it or is it a top secret work-in-progress?
