I read a review of that album somewhere (forgot where). The reviewer mentioned how the percussion at the beginning of that track seemed to “descend from the sky”—or something. Thought that was a neat description smile

That track is timeless and a big favourite of mine, would love to hear a full album of Ott remixing the shpongle material.  He adds a real dreamy feel to it….great late night listening.

I really respect Ott, he’s a a very talented musician, but don’t feel he did this particular tune justice as he failed to sustain the essence and soul of the track. I think the original is much better.

I disagree. The original is like the musical equivalent of joyous, happy memories of travels afar. The remix shifts the perspective of those same memories a little and turns them into nostalgic and wistful affairs. Love the 7/8 section (my fave time sig) and the way he uses the male vocal sample…mwah, very emotional. One of my favourite’s and defo one of the highlights of the remix CD. But that’s just me innit.

Hahah, yeah. So many people get the p and the h the wrong way round. I don’t think you could get a more orignal name for a band though.

I’d be interested to know how the name came about?

I would think in a messy state of mind!!

I heard raj was smoking something, and he said “I’m feeling really shpongled” or something like that.

Simon P. “Once upon a time, I think it was at Glastonbury, Raj was totally wasted, and mentioned the fact that he was .completely shpongled!. I think it was supposed to be some sort of hybrid of .spangled’ and .monged.’ Anyway the name stuck, and when we came back from Glastonbury we wrote our first Shpongle track.”

Interview is here   :D
