check the YouTube link in the post, it’s awesome. It gets very ‘posford’ towards the end, too

Moog Guitar: synth legend unveils an axe with auto-mute, infinite sustain

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3SsYQrgcyA

Bob Moog, one of the original morphogenetic inventors of the synthesizer, has unveiled the “Moog Guitar,” a new instrument with pick-ups that allow for “infinite sustain” and special auto-muted plucking. It was invented by engineer Paul Vo and will sell for $6,500.

FULL SUSTAIN MODE - like no other sustainer; infinite sustain on every string, at every fret position and at any volume. You may have heard sustain before but not with this power (we call it “Vo Power”) and clarity.

CONTROLLED SUSTAIN MODE - allows you to play sustained single or polyphonic lines without muting technique. The Moog Guitar sustains the notes you are playing while actively muting the strings you are not playing.

MUTE MODE - removes energy from the strings, resulting in a variety of staccato articulations. The mute mode has never been heard on any other guitar; the Vo Power stops the strings with the same intensity that it sustains them. You feel the instrument transform in your hands.

It does what the ebow does but instead of having to hold a plastic device over a string, the whole guitar is charged with the same sound which is amazing.. Makes harmonics really easy to hear. I like it and if my father is reading this i would like one for my birthday thanks!

Maybe we can do a whip round at the Shpongle gig and twisted afterparty. For example if there are 1000 peeps at the afterparty and we all chipped in 7 dollars a piece, what’s that

It would probably just freak me out….

I prefer to use my ‘71 Ibanez SG for the basic guitar picking - and enhance the rest with the help of my headset, my computer, and lots of hardware-knobs!

On the song linked further down I used my daughter’s 2/3-sized guitar (Morgan Legend Series Strat), with IK’s Amplitube (Hendrix), a GMedia PhatBoy, and a Novation XioSynth 25!

It is not really mixed at all. While recording I use a Sennheiser HD600 headset, but in between I bounce a downmix of the tracks and listen to it om my studio monitors, or my mp3-player.

The acoustic guitar sound early in the track (it’s really plucking on a Yamaha Electric Concert Violin) supposed to be crystal-overdrive and distorted (I hate it), but the harddrive died minutes after this downmix!

GRIPPY

Do I really need a Moog-guitar or would that just complicate things?
