The drug war documentary American Drug War: The Last White Hope plays “Divine Moments of Truth” during their section on hallucinogens. If that’s not enough to make you see it, it’s also a very well-presented documentary, and may open some eyes.
It talks about:
* How the Reagan administration sponsored the Contras who brought cocaine into the United States
* How the CIA was directly involved in selling cocaine to a drug dealer in Los Angeles (testimony from a former CIA operative, a former DEA operative, and the drug dealer himself)
* How the people responsible for the Iran-Contra affair now have spots in the Bush Administration or on pundit talk shows, while lower-level drug dealers (whom they were responsible for selling drugs to) rot in prisons
* How the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan has made heroin more widely available than ever, and has propped up drug lords who were previously in Taliban prisons
* How the U.S. targets sick people who want medical marijuana
* How privately-owned prisons have become a multi-million-dollar industry
And more.
