Well I’ve been checking out the new synth from Spectrasonics omnisphere.

After 30 minutes I can tell this is going to be an awesome addition to any studio. The possibilities with this synth are almost endless. A huge library to which most of you will be aware of. Splits, layering, multis etc etc etc. They seemed to have fixed the midi learning which was a problem with Atmosphere imo. Anyway I’m still hyped and wanna play some more.

btw CPU killer though. running a multi and it was up to 40%+ but worth it

Heh…sorry about the lack of replies there Dimu…

I’m currently in the process of obtaining a “borrowed” copy of omnisphere to try out before I consider buying it. rolleyes
Its taking FOREVER to get though….
I followed their video teasers every month. It sounds mind blowing.
The guys over at spectrasonics are nothing short of geniuses.
Sampling a burning piano? I mean..c’mon!

Have you looked at Camel Audios new synth, Alchemy ?
Basically the same idea as omnisphere. The audio samples sound amazing!
I see a bit more potential with this one, considering that you can import your own sounds…
And the price tag is much more reasonable than that of omnisphere.

btw CPU killer though. running a multi and it was up to 40%+ but worth it

I left off answering for a few days so you would have a chance to get a hold of it in full and check it out. Yeah my “borrowed” copy took 3 days to get.

So have you tried the burning piano and also the washing line guitars LOL  LOL Geniuses yes but smoked some good stuff or something when imagining those ideas. Who thinks(Well spectrasonics team obviously) ok lets get a washing line rack, two acoustic guuitars standing upright with the backs taken off and use a bow to play the washing line rack. Awesome. I’m happy they’ve improved the midi that soured the Atmosphere but it is ashame that when having ordinary atmosphere patches it takes up more cpu because of the STEAM engine. I’m impressed and am getting my own copy when the money is saved, but in the meantime I’ll keep using my “friends”.

I will look out for that Alchemy. It’s due out Autumn 2008 it says. Hopefully soon then. That’s one thing Spectrasonics are looking into apparently, being able to put in your own samples. I’m wondering if the Sage library will work in it. I’ve checked out the questions etc on the spectrasonics side but have no hints on if it will or not.

Well it would seem that it doesn’t recognise SAGE. I put the folder in various locations from Soundsources core library to the Patches folder and it didn’t come up. A real shame. It would of been nice to be able to use stylus patches in Omni as there is more you can achieve and more flexibility. Funny really as the multi setup is just the same as the Stylus except you don’t have to route each patch to a sepearte channel you can use the stack and assign each sound to various keys or sections of the keyboard which would have been great for the stylus patches.

WTF??   I’ve been going full throttle for a month now….
Still have 2 dvds left….
But, the tension is building.

Can I ask whether you borrowed it from a ‘demon’ or not?

Borrowed it from a Russian Audio - News site. The only bummer was that CD1 was the longest to get. CD6 was the quickest to get. I got that within a day.
