Curious how the intro to this tune scares me to death but then a minute later, I’ve forgotten all about it and find myself grooving happily along.

[quote author=“digitalex”]Curious how the intro to this tune scares me to death but then a minute later, I’ve forgotten all about it and find myself grooving happily along.

The quote is actually what the Spanish conquistadors read to the indians of South America as they enslaved/killed/stole everything in sight, including cultural heritage. I think the reason it’s so disgusting of an intro and then beautiful result has something to do with the fact that we live in countries that were essentially stolen from their indigenous inhabitants, and yet we thinkg everything is dreamy and beautiful… dunno, but just a thought. (Info on the quote is from Charles C. Mann’s novel 1491, which explores indian culture/heritage (mostly in North America) before the arrival of Columbus in 1492.)

That’s interesting. Just as relevant today also, how we’re surrounded by those that still believe in that agenda just as much as they did back then, and pursuing it openly, yet it goes unnoticed because most of us live in a sort of trance.

A great track and a trademark of them just as LSD is to Hallcinogen I think…

that is an interesting topic.

I wish that Simon or Benji will tell us why they decided to use these words.

Hi this is benji from yb…..... you’ve kinda sussed it….. evil and harm was the first ever YB song and it was made when a charity called survival asked me and simon to come together to write a track for a compilation they we’re putting together. Survival raises money for indiginous people under threat/pressure from the modern world.
They asked to write a track based on inspiration from a film they showed us about the KOGI people of colombia.

The story the kogi told was intricately linked with the arrival of europeans and the ensuing slaughter- a theme that runs still today in the kogi’s life.

We felt we wanted to represent this horror in the track but make the track aslso represent the beauty and optimism of people like the Kogi.

hope that explains

so I guess the project name - ” Younger Brother ” is influenced from the KOGI people points of view, which are quite interesting.

I admire especially this track, it is so REAL, it seems it exists in the valleys of humanity’s unconsious, and somehow you dudes access this space and go for fishing melodies and tones
