I just heard something about Ott playing live in Israel on the 20.02.09
is it true ?

from what I know there was suppose to be an Ott show but it was cancelled “due to the situation in Israel”.. I don’t know how authentic this information is cause i haven’t seen any formal confirmation to that subject so my guess is that it was just a roumer made by organaizers to attrack attention. 

but if on the subject..  Ott would you please come for a show in Israel????  :mrgreen:

hopefully he is supporting the cultural boycott!

I don’t think that it’s the place for political propaganda and to compare what Israel is doing to the Apartheid is absolutely absurd !
we live here in an impossible situation and you can’t possibly know what it’s like until you actually live here for sevrel years !

the news all over the world don’t really show what is really going on here !
I wish that some day we can all live in peace but this conflict is going on for many years know.

anyway, I’m not going to go further with this matter because like I said this is not the place for politics, here in this forum it’s all about the music !
and with that being said I think that one of the Moderators( DiMuTech, Ray, electrobot.808 ) should delete ozdave’s post and mine as well !

DiMuTech, the contents of the link contains propaganda material against Israel and political opinions and I know that you are the Moderator but I really don’t think that anywhere in this forum is the right place for that kind of material.

you don’t see me or BrainStorm or any other member in this forum from Israel posting our political views in here, because I really think that this forum should be about music and art and in the offtopic can be anything but not hatred stuff !

I get your point Gad. I think it’s wrong to spew hatred about somewhere in the world where most people on this forum haven’t got a clue really on the real situation there. We get the diluted western propaganda news. So most of us base a decision on that. However I also believe in the freedom of expression and free speech. Now before you get mad at me, read me out please.
There was a question on tv last night. Should comedians be allowed to joke about whatever? I took a moment and thought well yes they should. Even if they joke about some sick shit, I can then choose not to watch that comedian, that is my choice.
Should an extremist from whatever spectrum be able to voice their views even though other people disagree? They should be allowed. But they should voice an opinion end of and not resort to violence
I myself have political opinions that many people would disagree against. If I was not able to voice my opinion it would bug the hell out of me.

So the Off-topic forum is for anything unrelated to music. The idea being, that a topic of discussion unreleated to Twisted or music etc can be opened. This is so people who have the same interest in music can discuss other matters and by doing so can socialise and network(However I will speak to admin about the sub heading. “This forum is limited only by your imagination!”)
If it is sick stuff it would get taken down off course. But people are entitled to an opinion and to share links. If we don’t agree with it we can always say so. By doing so maybe that person who you disagreed with, may change their view.

The best thing you can do if you don’t agree with that opinion is to educate others on why you don’t and to give factual information.

Hey look no one was spewing hatred here, I merely posted a link to Big Campaign. Perhaps this was the wrong part of the forum to do that but at least it livens things up! Having a view that perhaps Israel is not conducting itself in line with international accords is NOT propaganda, merely an OPINION!! I think a majority of people in the alternative electronic music scene abhore the actions of the Israeli military (funded by the West), just as they hate what is happening in Iraq and Afghanistan. At least we can take criticism of our governments without getting so worked up. The truth about events will probably not come from people living in Israel as there will always be bias and media generated misinformation. I don’t pretend to believe I know what is really happening in the UK just because I live here and follow our media, that would be naive as we only get a selection of events reported, and lots of things get covered up! Hopefully peace will come soon and both sides will find some compromise.

As brainstorm said this is a place of music & art, so lets not talk politics and you ozdave should not make any conclusions based on the BBC and whatever you guys are getting there,

anyway Ott’s show was canceled due to ‘the situation’.. which is usualy an excuse of productions that could not deliver.. although this current production brought the Ozric’s few months ago.. lets hope to see him here on summer with other Twisted artists… Israel is the place!

or imagine that a terrorist shot and killed someone from your next door class at your high school.( just outside of the high school )
and there are tones of other cases like that, like buses exploding by a suicide bomber ,when the bus is full with man,women and children.
or imagine that you are a parent and your soldier son is being held in captivity for years and you don’t know if he is dead or alive or if you will ever see him again.
and just so you’d know the terrorists in Gaza were using their civilians as a human shield + they shot missiles on our cities for many years !

So people must understand that there are 2 sides to this story.
I was born in Israel and I live here for almost 24 years and even for me this conflict is beyond understanding because this situation is very complicated and very delicate and people here in Israel have a lot of mental scars and to some people even physical scars.

we live in a war situation for most of our lives and you don’t know what it’s like !
I really wish that some day we can all live in peace and that we will stop killing each other.

why don’t you support some campaign against terrorism ??

I was approached to play in Israel on 20th and arrangements were under way but I felt I had to cancel for a number of reasons.

For the record, the organisation [Hasamba] who contacted me were fully prepared to organise the gig and it was me who pulled out - before any deposits were paid or flights bought. I’m sure that, had I decided to play the gig, they would have made a great job of organising it.

There was no question of them doing this to “attract attention” or being unable to organise the show.

anyway, in my opinion when Hasamba brought Ozric Tentacles it was a disaster !
I’m a huge fan of Ozric for a long time but the sound system in that place was terrible and the venue was too small for the amount of people that were there.
their previous shows in Israel were a lot better !
anyway I don’t think that there are good enough organizers in Israel for that kind of events.

As I wasn’t there I can’t comment, but my experience of Hasamba was that they were very courteous and professional and I would have been happy to play for them in different circumstances.
