The song “Queen of All Everything” is my favorite of all time… the voice in the song is largely encoded or decoded or manipulated to such a stretch that I can’t understand it in a ‘normal’ state of mind.

However, when I recently listened to it, I was interpreting the words in my mind… hearing a voice beautifully singing “How? Why? The world is love” in a way that seemed to beg for a change in our world.

I suppose this is just one interpretation of many, I was just wondering if you had your own vision or interpretation of this masterfully gorgeous piece of audial art.

Thank you for everything you do… and I am convinced you have the luckiest child in the world to grow up listening to such consciousness expanding music on a regular basis. I wish her, you and your’s all the best.

Yeah it’s one of the best. Starting around the 3:50 mark it transforms into something epic.

I’m also a big fan of Splitting An Atom, Smoked Glass And Chrome, and of course Rogue Bagel. Guess I’m a sucker for the chanting or whatever you want to call it. Only recently realized just how awesome Ott is.

His best track is without a shred of doubt “Joyful Wonder”. Hearing him playing that live at the shpongle afterparty in 2008 was so great!! smile

Great song, one of my favorites from Ott. I’m not 100% sure but the vocal part sounds a lot like the vocoder on the V-Synth. One of my other favorites from Ott has to be “Neon Tetra”. I love everything about the arrangement of that song from the cool vocal panning at the beginning to the wicked distorted lead in the middle with some Speak&Spell; thrown in as well. More new music please (Ott…Twisted…).  : )

I just had another hilarious realization about Ott…

After watching the interview on the Twisted DVD where it is stated that he would rather shit his pants than do a trance album (or something along those lines), I realized that the beginning of Blumenkraft is a person walking away from a full-on show, walking out the door, getting into their car and blasting something kinda fast paced, slowly the music transforms into Ott… Awesome…

Also, I hope the health issues that led to some concerts being delayed/canceled have been alleviated. All my positive energy goes out to Ott, the Twisted team, and all others promoting this beautiful vision of music.

Cheers

The way you describe the lyrics in The Queen of All Everything, is exactly how I feel about the lyrics in Rogue Bagel. To me, it seems like the words in Rogue Bagel are saying “come and join us”. “Us” being those of us who have awoken to the greater destiny of mankind. I love how the lyrics are completely open for interpretation. <3 Ott.

I dunno if anyone would bother..
But what’s really amazing while listening to OTT’s songs is if you know the Indian languages like Hindi or Punjabi.

Like, I can understand most of the lyrics in Rogue Bagel and Smoked Glass and Chrome

The male voice in “Rogue Bagel” is in Punjabi, while the female voice is in some South Indian language.
What the male singer basically saying is, “Live on my dear fellow, even if you live for someone else. Sometimes you might’ve felt this. Live on my dear fellow, “ then something incomprehensible, i think after that he says, “we see the world infront of us”.
then he says things about how “he loves seeing his lover and wants the whole world to be blinded by their love.” It is sung very poetically. and then followed by the south Indian female voice singing.
Personally I find it somewhat ‘odd’ that two different languages of very different culture are combined, but it still sounds brilliant.

Smoked Glass and Chrome has similar thing going on, it has mixed Hindi and some south Indian language.
It starts off in Hindi, with the voice saying, “Come with me my love, I’ll take you to the stars (‘sitaaron’ = stars)” repeated 4 times. Then the South Indian voice takes over (again, I find it sort of odd).
Now some words sound very similar in these languages, and they mean same thing.
For example, from 2:16 - 2:30, she says something about the cosmos, and raining of something.
2:30 - 2:40, the words ‘phoolon ki maala’ means “necklace of flowers”, (where phoolon = flowers, maala = necklace) repeated twice.
3:11 - 3:38 is in Hindi again, where she says, ”[My] Heart ‘swings into groove [referring to groove of music]’ like this, take me to the beautiful wilderness” repeated 4 times.
Then 3:38 - 4:07 are same as 2:15 - 2:40

These vocals are from a very old Hindi song. It is also remixed in the song “Punjab” by Karunesh.

My parents, who’ve heard the original song[s], says that he screwed up the whole song by remixing it, because half way through the song, the lines are displaced by another Punjabi song and it changes the meaning. lol and they totally love the original versions, both Hindi and Punjabi songs.
I hope i can find them somewhere.. many artists have used those vocals.

Yup.
Here’s the Hindi part song

Come on my prince, i`ll take you to the world of stars..
i`ll take you where your Heart will start to dance ..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5opqFjZ8JaA

and the Punjabi part song. Its a very old folk song.

Oh my terrible God,
Girls born in one family and and die in another
Oh my terrible God,
I`m flying from my parental home….

Pretty strange, (and I can say ‘sad’ perhaps?) how these wonderful and meaningful songs gets screwed up by someone else and they lose all its meaning..
and also sad how the songs of new singers in these cultures are horrible! They have lost all their cultural values.

But eh, I guess music is music smile
To each its own.
Artists like Ott, or Simon make music purely for its mystical touch and to send mind into beautiful places of imagination.
And I really don’t know if it matters, whether they should re-think of using the vocals from other cultures without even knowing their real meaning?
perhaps I am thinking too deep about it, I’m really not a fan of cultures. (/is fullon Terence McKennaist. lol)

I have a question for Ott or anyone else who can answer it. What effect/instrument is used for a main melody in The Queen of all Everything? The sound is AMAZING, its like it’s breathing… I have never heard something like that. Thanks in advance

peace and love to all

It sounds an awful lot like a Rhodes piano; although knowing Ott, there’s probably something tricky going on in the background that only a sonicsmith like himself would be able to do. Here are some clips of Rhodes pianos that I found.

The Queen of All Everything is a masterpiece. Most certainly one of my favorite songs of all time.

I think it’s a heavily processed vocal sample, some vocoder, filter sweeps and probably some other secret stuff.. wink
