Alright, so I live in Canada, right? So nothing Twisted really comes this way, and its really hard to find any merch. I didn’t want to buy from the site because shipping from the UK to Canada would be too much for my wallet to handle raspberry. So what I decided to do was make the Shpongle mask myself!

This was made using Plaster Strips, and used a plastic facial mold as the base for the face. Originally the mouth was closed on the mold, but I modded the plaster mold afterwards by cutting the mouth and elongating it to form the open mouth. Same with the extra eyes. The Crest was made using wire for structure, and then plastered over. Each of the beard pieces was outlined using wire, and then plastered over.

The paint was a mix of white, red, and blue. These are earlier pictures, as I later drybrushed it with white to make it brighter and lighter. Each piece of the beard was brushed with blue watercolor to accent shadow, as was the inbetween of the wisps.

It’s more of a ornament than an actual mask, but I can always cut out the back and double it as a mask (though its maybe a little too fragile for that).

I was thinking of doing that, but leaving them blank white so that people can paint them themselves so they can make it however they want. Paint it “Are You Shpongled?” colors, “Tales of the Inexpressible” colors, “Nothing Lasts…Nothing is Lost” colors, or just any sort of scheme that suits your fancy smile

The problem with shipping is that its really fragile. Its made out of plaster, but the only parts that are worrysome are the wisps, because they are really thin and spindly. If it was shipped, the wisps would probably end up breaking. Unless anyone has any suggestions to how to re-enforce those parts?

I was going to do that, but it was hard with the mold I was using. If you could see it up close, it looks like if you changed anything, it would be ruined. The eyes in that place work very well raspberry
But yeah, if I wanted to get closer to the original, then I’ll do that. Maybe I’ll make another one raspberry

it’s beautiful as it is.

no rules in art !

what one human being sees as a fault or a defect, can be seen through another human being’s eyes as perfection.

it applies to many things and situations in life.

cheers !
