Hmmm… the dark psy i’ve heard sounds monotonous, too fast, irritating, sometimes ‘macho’... and totally un-psychedelic. So if that is the closest thing to Hallucinogen, it doesn’t make me want to contribute anything to the gene pool…. but maybe i haven’t heard the good stuff… I don’t have a copy of ‘Reason’, so i’m not sure i could do something on that level anyway…. smile

i had to blink 3 times when i saw ur pic… is it actually him???
not to mention when i read ur post. wtf dude? wtf…
just keep doing music the way u think music should sound like, just when u did all ur great stuff. don’t fuck around plz (uve released some half arsed stuff i didnt really appreciate, the stuff when u fool around too much or dont really try and make something new). just do what u always do… and ull have hallucinogen 3. smile

What’s the half assed stuff? I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve heard from Simon Posford and really Twisted Records in general. Probably the worst thing, in my opinion, was Hicksville. But then the new Hicksville Remixed and Remastered is pretty damn sweet.

Anyways…... yeah….. I really do hope there is another Hallucinogen album or more. That stuff just gets me going. No other goa/psy even compares. And the new tracks Strangled Cat and Shabby Trance are definitely not a let down. I love them just as much as the classic stuff. The potential is definitely there… I suspect we WILL see a new Hallucinogen in the next year or two. -fingers crossed-

well u know, each his own taste. hicksville (u mean the celtic cross album, not hiscksville track) is one of my fav all timers, actually. and i thought the remastering was just off.

shabby trance was… shabby to me :p
bubble and tweak was totally recycled (those effects dont fool me simon!)
all the metal sharon stuff i heard sounded hollow, too much fooling around. the melodic aspect was missing for me, i didnt like it.

those are just a few samples, though, dont get me wrong. simon is 99% hit and nobody beats him. we’re on the same page…

Well good is totally subjective… as is “dark”, but here are a few artists people consider “dark”

For me I enjoy:

Kindzadza for mechanical robot “darkness”
Psykovsky for epic orchestral/classical influenced madness
Acid Goblins for magical night-time forest sounds
Enichkin’s NEW album (2009) forget the name but it is melodic and beautiful in a totally unique way
Ghreg on Earth for beautiful industrial influenced high bpm trance.

//facepalm at the direction of this thread

Yes, a new Hallucinogen album would be lovely. But all in due time.
If Simon isn’t feeling it, then people shouldn’t be bitching about it.
(Which they’ve been doing for what…?  Thirteen years now?)

Would also like to note that the newest Hallucinogen material is my favorite.
(Pipeworm, Shabby Trance, Strangled Cat, etc)
It’s much more…mature…and intricate. Tickles the braincells on a whole new level.  smile

I really couldn’t compare any dark trance artist to Hallucinogen…two different worlds completely, imo…
