French composer Vincent Villuis, aka AES Dana, known for his participation to the H.U.V.A. Network band and co-manager of Ultimae Records, signs here his 4th ambient downtempo album and presents 10 immersive tracks of luminous darkness.

“For those who believe in them, Leylines are invisible lines of forces that connect centers of geomagnetic power to one another.”
Throughout the album, the artist builds upon the concept of connections that exist between various musical genres and influences, interlinks between the elements surrounding us, the feelings of life. Sound becomes organic matter, clay.
Tapped, scraped, plucked, stretched, it transforms into rich rhythms, spatial acoustics, sustained harmonics, hypnotic morphing pads and profound basslines.
The outcome is a granular journey of complex delicacy, fragmented and yet fluid.

according to the tracks on his myspace page and from the samples in the Ultimae website ” Leylines ” sounds very promising !
I love the mystical atmosphere of “Heights”
and the “Leylines” track is very nice as well with that laid-back,hypnotic morning twilights trance sound.

I just love the way he can make the good old classic Goa trance style to sound so fresh !

his ambient downtempo style sounds deeper and hypnotic than ever.. and the sound is very lush and atmospheric.

Yeah, does sound good. I’m going to get a couple of albums next week ‘when I gets me earnings’ Slowly building up a collection from ultimae now. I got Circular [Substans] with my last order. Haven’t listened to it as much as Movements but it’s a real chilled album.

I got my “Leylines” CD from Ultimae this morning,and in the afternoon I listened to it twice in a row cause it was sooo Good !

it’s extremely wide and panoramic,sophisticated,emotionally intense and enigmatic atmospheric.

“10 immersive tracks of luminous darkness.” indeed !

Vince is a talented dream weaver and sound architect as we all already know, and it shows on his previous works but in my opinion this is his best work as Aes Dana.

all the compositions are beautifully arranged,constantly developing,revealing luminous textures one after another,sliding through fresh unique ambient realms,hypnotic morning electronica and intelligent powerful downtempo. you can even feel a bit of Jungle and Breakbeat in the rhythms of “Inter” and “Blossom”. in fact,like it says in the Ultimae presentation: “Throughout the album, the artist builds upon the concept of connections that exist between various musical genres and influences”, and he does it so well ! blending all kinds of musical influences.

the production is top quality and crystal clear.

Magnus Birgersson did an excellent job with the mastering.

the artwork from Ultimae is always beautiful and no exception here as well.the cover, the booklet,everything is stunning.

another brilliant release from Ultimae.

besides the fact that the music is Wonderful,
the sound quality is absolutely amazing !
Vince did an exceptional job in every aspect of this album.

Like I said before,I really love all the tracks in this album but I love “Inter” and “Blossom” the most.

the rest of the tracks here are beautiful extensions of the unique signature Aes Dana sound and style,they go deeper and wider in terms of music composing and sound designing.
exploration of musical horizons that Vincent Villuis crystallized into brilliant executions of ideas.

now,about “Inter” and “Blossom” ,i think that with these 2 wonderful compositions Vince is adding some completely new dimensions to his sound and style,giving us some other fresh Aes Dana perspectives.

it seems that Vince and the rest of the Ultimae artists and team are constantly pushing the boundaries with every release by them.

the sound manipulations and architecture on “Leylines” are amazing !
the textures,the rhythms and bass lines,all the layers, everything is so lush,emotional and atmospheric,especially what Vince did with the pads, it’s just so powerful and hypnotic.

“Leylines” is a beautiful sophisticated and rich sonic and visual revelation from start to end.
