I just don’t get it. I have the settings on that it automatically plays the track when my page is visited(I have always had this setting). However I’ve had 7,676 visits to my page but only 2,864 plays in my player and Shpongle for example has had 957,298 views and 1,240,280 plays. It doesn’t seem logical to me that I should have less plays than visits. At least it should be the same if a track is played automatically when my page is loaded.

Anyone have any insights into this?

I am not positive but here are a few guesses:

Maybe the visitors to your page are getting a randomly selected track from your playlist?

A play of the track only counts if it plays all the way through to the end?

And in terms of numbers being really high, maybe myspace is tracking the playbacks for that track on each page it is posted at?

maybe it could be your second guess because the settings are to play from the first track and not randomly. If it only counts for the whole track then that would probably be the explanation. Thanks

BTW I have been trying to find this out but really haven’t done a lot of work customizing my myspace. I am curious as to where the setting is to have tracks play automatically? As is the viewer has to press play which is less likely.

yea,my guess is that it counts the play once the song plays all the way through. that is really the most accurate way of measuring how many times people actually listened to a given song, no? plus, thats the way itunes does it…

hi DiMuTech,dont 4get people can add your track to their profile, so it would get played everytime someone vizits their page not yourz and that would explain shpongle having so many hits, you get the choice of letting people add your music when you upload a trak!!
