Didn’t see the show but saw come clips. It looked a good one. I think this is a cool direction for YB. More guitar etc. It’s more live band as opposed to their other projects which they can do themselves(Prometheus, Hallucinogen etc)

long face  Dunno if I like it…

It seems like they’re now catering to a “party” crowd more than an “interpersonal headphone music” crowd.
I’m not sensing any…musical journey or…“explorable soundscapes” with this stuff…
if that makes sense.

We’ll see what happens once the album is released…

I had a feeling they were going to go into more this style working more predonminately in the band vibe.  I do like the sound of it but is different to the original vibe, it sounds very late 60’s early 70’s psy rock and very trippy..almost Floyd like..  grin

I like the direction and I didn’t want to label them as Floyd like… but seeing as you’ve said it eb I also wanted to say it in my previous post.

I think it’s good and it seems to be building up a following which will maybe lead on to people listening to other twisted music.

O my god!!!!! That Youtube video!!!
I must admit it sounds very chaotic but of course that’s because it is live with crappy soundrecording quality, BUT STILL! Those insane drums! And guitars everywhere! And I can hear psychedelic synths. I DO hope it sounds like that on the album, and that they will not put on the more boring versions grin ITS AWESOME!

(but I probably feel like this because I’m also into progressive rock and metal… apart from psytrance and psychill.. I can understand that other people may not like it as much, because it’s indeed not very much headphone music.. BUT I LIKE IT!:))

I like it a lot also… Honestly, I am going to embrace this Pink Floyd style turn for Younger Brother because I think it makes a lot of sense, as more of an actual side project and something to experiment with in order to keep things fresh. Plus, I’m sure they wont miss the mark in terms of the album, and I highly doubt it will be as drum or guitar heavy as the video clip here is, unless it’s a live album. Really, three words sum up my opinion here, Bring It On smile

Yes, very different.  As a huge, HUGE fan of A Flock Of Bleeps, I’m still not completely sold on the live band feel that YB has been taking on.  That’s not to say I dislike it or anything; I just need to warm up to it a bit better.

Okay, nevermind.  at 1:53 in the video it just of explodes in this live band/electronic thing.  Fucking sweet.  Maybe this will be their great return after what was Last Days of Gravity.  I mean, this is fucking sweet!  It may not be “interpersonal headphone music”, but I can definitely see myself doing some mushrooms and dancing around my room to this stuff blasting on a stereo.  BRING IT.

Another note, if you want “interpersonal headphone journey” music, there’s plenty of stuff in the TIP and Twisted back catalog.  Though you guys probably know that heh. wink

I really don’t like the direction they took with “The Last Days Of Gravity”, and this sounds like a couple of trance artists trying to play rock music, not my cup of tea!

Personally I want more trance music with rock elements, and not the other way around.

Yeah, I think it’s safe to say that the psy-trance genre is past it’s peak, and declining steadily. It seems that each successive album made by a psy artist/group is progressively less tasty than the previous one (generally speaking). It seems like the very early albums of psy-trance artists are the best. Some examples are IM’s “Classical Mushroom”, Lotus’s “Nomad”, Entheogenic’s “Relax” and “Spontaneous Illumination”, Shulman’s “Soundscapes and Modern Tales” and “In Search of a Meaningful Moment,” And let’s not forget Shpongle’s “Are You Shpongled” (this one still sends tryptamine-esque tingles to my head that are unmatched by “TOtI” and “NLbNIL”).

Okay I’ll admit Last Days of Gravity was mostly a good album, even with the new style. But I found myself skipping over tracks (Ribbon on a Branch, Psychic Gibbon, and sometimes All I Want). It seems there is now too much of an urge to add lyrics to their songs, for a commercial effect of course! Those lyrics prevent the music from taking me on a journey (the human voice is no match for a psychedelic synth that melts your brain!).

And what’s worse, the lyrics could have been about something cool and wouldn’t be that bad, but they ALWAYS have sappy love themes. Everytime Ruu sings for Younger Brother it sounds like a semi trippy version of the Backstreet Boys or N-Synch. I hear alot of this heart-pouring garbage in new material, and even with the new Shpongle material (gasp!). For this reason I highly doubt the new YB and Shpongle will exceed the previous ones. Oh Well, no really good things last forever, but for now, after a refreshing break I’ll cling to Are You Shpongled during my trips wink

Because the tryptamine shape-shifting entities are creating things with vibrations, I am convinced that there is no other explanation than that they are highly advanced beings trying to teach humans how the so-called “string theory” constructs reality.

Yes, I think it’s safe to say a lot of the artists that really made the scene are steadily going downhill.  The latest YB, Shpongle 3, some might say even Skylon, were nowhere near Flock of Bleeps, AYS?, and Blumenkraft.  Even non-Twisted artists, Eat Static, Koxbox, Shulman, GMS, etc seem to be losing it.

I hate saying this but the output and quality of Twisted of old I think is no more.  It would take a Hallucinogen album that blows most Goa albums out of the water, or a really, REALLY, fucking good downtempo album from Benji to restore that “missing void” felt with recent releases.  I’m terribly sorry, but I never find myself going for Skylon, Last Days, Nothing Lasts, or Corridor of Mirrors.  I always pick the first, classic albums.  They don’t have any pop/pap, and they’re fucking twisted indeed.  My .02.
