If you want to attempt to understand, the first step is to learn how to listen to albums you don’t particularly enjoy with an open mind and give them several chances. The second step is to learn to control yourself to not listen to the albums you do really enjoy. Once you can do that you can undertake the musical journey and experience it for yourself.

you are insane man… i don’t want to listen music that i don’t like, i’ll listen what i like… or i will spend my time listening lady gaga or some shit like that if i do what u saying :p

i listen everything i get in my hands, but i don’t want to spend my time listening some shit, like pop full on and that stuff!

music i like, i will listen over and over again, and after some time, that music become part of me, like all shpongle albums…

you should better shut your mouth and turn up music…

@ okyup:

So, in your mind since you listen to a lot of music you are completely justified in coming to an artist’s forum and trolling them and their community?  ‘Negative influence on the scene’ was the biggest indicator that you’re just spitting vitriolic nonsense in the hopes of infuriating some members…

I may not have been listening to goa/psy for 15 years (coming up on 7) but I have invested a serious amount of time effort and money getting into and enjoying the scene…nothing compares to the level of artistry that Twisted puts out, Shpongle/Younger Brother in particular.  I have a hard time believing that you are actually into the scene because anyone who is really interested in psy/goa has love, compassion and inspiration at the forefront of their mind as opposed to whatever shit you’re spewing.

Straw man.
I understand the progression it went through because I’ve listened to a lot of music.

That’s a misconception that I can help you get over. Just observe how many people have been flaming and hating on me throughout this thread. There’s no love, compassion or inspiration there. I’m not all about PLUR, but I’m probably not as nasty as half of these people here.

Twisted Records is one of the most commercial psy labels, yet they are the only psy label to stoop to crying publicly about not selling enough CDs. Better to spend your money supporting smaller labels and emerging artists that really have money problems. Twisted already sells thousands of each CD, they will hardly notice it if you just download their music in high quality instead.

Really, okyup, enough is enough.

You’re sitting safely behind your computer, probably with your stained underwear around your ankles, no doubt beating off to every response provoked by your infantile antagonism.

Simon’s answered you clearly and concisely and defended himself, though he didn’t have to.

That’s Simon Posford, the guy in his avatar. The owner of Twisted, and creator of music backed by a wealth of experience in art and production.

You’ve got a right to your opinion. If you feel the need to waste time posting shit about a band you don’t like, then fine. You’re pathetic, but you wouldn’t be the first.
However, what’s the excuse for trying to convince people you’re right?

Here’s an idea. Why don’t you reveal who the fuck YOU are, dipshit? Why don’t YOU qualify your statements on Shpongle’s musical merit? Criticize it in terms a seasoned music critic would employ, since that’s how you’re representing yourself.

“Lousy pile of shit” is a term a preteen might use. But with your “deep” and “wide-ranging” knowledge of contemporary music, surely you are able to provide a cogent criticism of Shpongle on a level slightly higher than childish insults?

Compare it to music you deem superior. Let’s hear it. What is it about, let’s see, you mentioned Ultimae..What is it about the virtuosos at Ultimae that Simon could learn from?

Qualify, bitch. Otherwise, as I pointed out earlier, you are just an insane, jealous degenerate who is obviously taking out your inadequacy issues, no doubt stemming from a complete lack of parental love, in a forum where you are not welcome.

Qualify or get the fuck out of here.

So, by your logic if I walk into a group of people who are meditating peacefully and punch one of them in the face, one of them reacting in a non-peaceful way voids the legitimacy of their previous actions?

Go look at the rest of the thread before you hopped in.  It was varied all the way from “good album, not as good as the rest” to “best album ever” and all the various colours in between.  The discussion was overall positive/respectful, considering its negative beginning (the leak, etc.).

And I mean, this IS the Twisted forum, a place where fans come together to share in the community that has been so benevolently gifted to us by Twisted.  I would analyze the extent to which your very presence is stupid, but Simon and the rest of this thread have done that amply.

Now, I know I’m trying to convince a troll which is inherently a worthless endeavour, but surely you can see the difference between respectful criticism and coming in here and saying that not only is the album not good but that Simon Posford has been a NEGATIVE influence on the scene?

Beyond ridiculous, and I don’t care if you’ve been listening to all the psy trance that has ever been produced in every corner of the Multiverse for 1,000 years, that statement is just fucked up, wrong, insane, batshit crazy and I don’t see how you or anyone could back that up.

Lol @ the troll thinking hes hot shit for 15 years experience on his music resume.

I dont really understand why everyone is taking his comments so personally. I understand Simon replying since the guy took a direct shot at twisted’s financing/event planning ability, but dont the rest of you realize that if you keep feeding the troll hes just gonna keep shitting everywhere?  shut eye

However, I personally think that every forum needs someone like that with a different opinion who’s not afraid to stir things up a bit. After all what would hogwarts be without Malfoy?  hmmm

I will also admit that theres something inherently funny about people getting really angry on the internet for taking things too seriously.  angry  But maybe thats just me? Who knows, who cares.  tongue rolleye

Anyways…..love the new album! It really does get better with every listen. I’m on my fourth smile

That’s fine. But he is not able to express his “different opinion” in a reasonable manner.

Hah yeah I agree that people getting super pissed and screaming in caps because you’ve pushed their buttons can be occasionally amusing..but I’d like (at least for me) to keep Shpongle/Twisted a safe haven if at all possible…but that’s just because I love their music so much and it has such a powerful effect on me personally and so I do take it a little bit more seriously than if you said Infected Mushroom was a pile of steaming sell out shit (oh wait, did that just slip out? hmm…)

Anyways, I applaud your effort at getting the discussion back on a more positive route.  The album is absolutely fantastic in every way.  On my initial listen I kind of did it light, not really diving into it just getting a surface look as I was doing something else at the time…It would have probably been different if I hadn’t heard most of the songs on live sets before.

Second listen I was more actively engaged, but still no headphones no dancing.

Third listen I packed it on my iPod, put on my badass headphones, sparked some Divine Moments, strapped on my Poi and I danced through the whole thing.  Fucking amazing.  I Am You, Cosmic Mirror, the “cello one” are instant classics rivaling the complexity and emotional power of anything that Shpongle has previously released.  Definitely better than the last album, too soon into the listening progress to say whether I like it “better” than the previous albums…I’m more tempted to attempt to classify them all as unique individual experiences.

I wish that I was more versed in music theory/creation so that I could eloquently say what I liked in particular, but I’ve only just started dabbling in psy-creation and have no prior musical background upon which to draw, but I’ll review it in a way that really speaks to me personally….it transported me to an other-worldly zone in which I was able to dance and spin poi in a really interested way…the rhythms and tonal textures imprinted my body with fresh inspiration and I felt enriched with flow and light as I was listening to it…

really looking forward to diving into it all-receptors-activated this weekend with my girlfriend smile

edit:  yes I will buy the CD, and so will anyone else I can convince to smile  I would have waited happily had a friend (who also already preordered it) not said “oh hey I have a really good rip of the new Shpongle album, do you want it?”  Sorry, too addicted to Shpongle to pass that up smile

[size=3][size=4][size=3]I feel most people have a misconception that an artist can make music for free. This misconception comes from established artists, Radioheads, giving away free music, because they have a few quid in the Bank and have luxuries of touring and drawing lots of tickets. Next we have Shpongle, who aren’t just a local band, or dj for hire, who have started to get around a little bit, and people start saying
