Here are some exemplary Ultimae tracks. Extremely detailed, complex, don’t wander around pointlessly as Shpongle tends to, long but interesting, deep, and most importantly: each using creative synths to build a unique identity and original soundscapes for itself. There are a lot of qualities here that are missing in Shpongle.

Name a Shpongle tune that does not possess the qualities of detail and complexity you find so prevalent in those, er, examples.
What “creative” synths do you recommend Shpongle use? What recommendations can you give Simon so that Shpongle may not “wander pointlessly?” You obviously know the difference, so please enlighten the forum. Be specific.

“Interesting” and “deep” are not specific. That’s purely subjective.
I suppose you find staring at ferris wheels interesting as well.

What is your advice to Simon so that he may become a better composer?
Since you seem to be implying that Shpongle is somehow unoriginal, what do you equate it with?

I don’t expect you to answer these questions, since by your empty criticism, you’ve proven yourself as nothing more than a blowhard. Give up trying to qualify your insults and just accept the fact that you simply don’t like it. It’s only your opinion, with not a shred of artistic or musical expertise to back it up.

I’m done with this joker..Apologies to the forum for feeding the troll even more…

I’m giving the new album 5 out of 5 tabs. wink

digitalex,

Not wandering pointlessly is easy: reincorporate the sounds from earlier on in the track and build on them rather than substituting them out for something entirely different, never to be seen again. This makes the track a continuous unit.

For an example you can listen to any of the links I posted for you. The best way to learn is by example anyways.

Deep means there are lots of interplaying distinct layers of sound. Long but interesting means there is enough variation, not just 1 loop over and over for example. Everything is subjective.

Twisted Records is one of the most commercial psy labels, yet they are the only psy label to stoop to crying publicly about not selling enough CDs. Better to spend your money supporting smaller labels and emerging artists that really have money problems. Twisted already sells thousands of each CD, they will hardly notice it if you just download their music in high quality instead.

You sound so ridiculous trying to compare that music to Shpongle, it’s simple, you can’t do that.

Seriously.

Lame.

I wouldn’t waste my time on this forum if I were you, okyup.

Posford (if it’s actually him that’s posting from the account) already has exposed himself as the greedy slimeball he is by complaining about the album sales before it has even been released, and lying about the financial situation at Twisted Records.

I just downloaded the album, and no surprises there - Simon is a one trick pony musically, so he better be glad he has established himself as the kiddie-trance king. Or maybe he’s just a sad pothead burn-out who lost his creativity some time around year 2000?

Sadly, Shpongle is not about art anymore, has not been in a loong time. You can blame the internet all you want, the truth is that people simply don’t want to spend their money on crap. The ineffable crap of an album is not even worth the 100 something MB free download and is going straight to my recycle bin.

It’s quite sad, really. I would have never guessed Shpongle could degrade from ‘Are You Shpongled?’ to this…

This is my first and last post here, so you can go ahead and gang up on me, ignore me or whatever else you do with people who do not share your point of view. I just wanted to let you know that okyup is not alone.

Farewell.

listening to the album right now and smiling my ass off about it.  Can’t help if some people don’t appreciate unbridled liquid amazement when they hear it.

This thread is about to get Godwin’d.  I’m sure Hitler wouldn’t like the new album either.

I agree with everything you said there and thank you for your kind words. I have a sweet tooth for making provocative internet posts in my idle time, but this forum is quickly losing its thrill. Peace.

Of course you agree. Who’s that guy? Fungus? Oh…

Registers from nowhere, reads every page to be aware of what okyup posted and posts exactly the same kind of insults. Lol.

Dude, it’s so obvious. What pathetic way to support yourself.

EDIT:

Oh and he suddenly leaves the forum, just posted once and won’t read the forum ever again. What a joke.

I’m going to make this one exception to my rule of late to ignore all posts by worthless little boys just to inform you of the rule since you don’t seem to be able to clue in yourself.

Hey man! No need to ignore me!

I am here just to help you. To let you realize how pathetic you are. Just that!

Anyway, thank you, had fun reading your crap and thinking who could be the pathetic no-lifer guy behind the screen LOL

Simon, you touch my heart.

I had no idea you put so much efforts into your shows, frankly, I never got the chance to see them (been waiting for like 10 years…). But, when I first heard about this situation, I was surprised cuz I assumed you must make a lot of money from them, you are very popular and a show like Shpongle must sell good, anywhere. But with the amount of money you spend on it.. god. I know nothing about this business but, perhaps (just perhaps, no offense meant) u r such rad stoners nobody knows how to properly manage the business side. You might (again, might, I really dunno) have made a lot of money with some fartsy dude taking care of the money issues. You must secure the income if you put so much money into it. It’s all yaki goo, but necessary if you want to survive so you can continue to make music.

Just a thought.

As for uploaders, there’s no escape really. Just accept it and move on, and try and adopt as much as you can. Why not PRE-OFFER the album online, for money, before it gets leaked (and it always does, innit?). Why not offer more posford rarities for download as well (i hope there’s no publisher rights cap on your work). You need to make more money so think money. You know how many people would pay for you to give them feedback on their music? you can develop a whole music-making-school here with your reputation. And certainly don’t dismiss your fans here!!!! YOU’RE NUMBER 1 SIMON! NUMBER 1!!!!!eleven
smile

On a personal note, I would be devastated to see Twisted go down without a Hallucinogen 3 album. You say you kept putting ur hopes on ‘just 1 more release’, so if it’s not shpongle 4 now so it’s… nothing?. I say put ur money on a third Simon solo project, and let the chips fall where they may… Couldn’t have it more dramatic than that, now could u? wink

Personally I’ve made it my new mission to spread appreciation for Shpongle to new people…sofar today I’ve introduced a couple people to the samples on the twisted music player, and at least one said he was definitely going to buy the new album.  With this you get two joys:  one for giving someone the gift of Shpongle and the other joy of possibly getting Simon some much-needed capital smile
