I’ll agree with you about E, its definitely more of a “people” drug than a spiritual one, but I think it still goes very well with psy stuff. Sadly, this drug seems to be on its own decline, people all over the world are finding it harder and harder to get acutal E. Maybe this will lead to a decline in trance? Hopefully not…
LOL i don’t think trance will die. have you been to trance concerts in central / eastern europe (the trance heartland)? vast majority of people are just drinking. that’s the scary fucking thing about europe. for some weird reason people actually enjoy acts like ATB and above & beyond, and they don’t even take drugs!

Maybe its because I have a US perspective on things. I’ve been to a lot of raves/EDM events on both coasts and it just seems like the majority of the people are only there to roll their balls off. You’d be surprised at how many people don’t know who the main acts are, or even who the hell is playing at the moment! In the sense that its a social gathering where people come to dance and love each other, its fine. But in the sense of the music, it means everyone’s too fucked up to care about whats being played, and thus nobody is pushing the boundaries. It seems like if you have a few shitty synths and a 4/4 beat, everyone is happy.
Also, its not “weird” that people don’t need to be rolling/tripping/stoned/etc to enjoy trance. I grew up on the shit for at least a decade before I even considered dabbling into the drug world. Above & Beyond happens to be one of my favorites, I’m actually seeing them for Halloween (I’d go to Shpongle, but I live in the states and my bank account has less than Twisted’s o.O ). The main difference here is that trance has become (and is becoming) more mainstream and digestible than psy. But I DO think that if ecstasy availability keeps declining in the states, we’re going to see a lot less trance here.
(written to no one and everyone and simon) this whole issue is concerning, shpoongle on the brain…
So one thing I really like about Shpongle is the shpongle face continuity.
It would be hard to say that this is a logo, it is very intricate, and though it definatly has a symbolism to it; the face is almost an “complex anti-logo symbol” which (in it’s nature be a symbol of definition) can’t be too simple, shpongle is somthing of complex beauty. A simple black and white or duotone, vector like 6 eyed face wouldn’t have the same effect.
Though the graphic designer in me might like to see a simplified logo version of the face, I just like to see variations on a theme.
But never mind the face, that was just a segway into
this next album coming out,
so I listened to it once, yea the evil low quality piece of beauty which I only glimsed at because it wasn’t what it should sound like because of the crappy ripping job, which btw, I don’t know if there is a high quaility version online, so @ least you got that going for ya still.
Anywize: IT WAS BEAUTIFUL, not the songs or the quaility mind you, I didn’t have the time to absorb all that yet (waiting to buy the album), but just the layers of hereing your brain massage those keys, tweak the knobs, the karma sutra of sound resonating…
all I know so far is this new sound you’ve found in your self expresing and also falling in love with; grand job boys, your love for pushing the sound into new areas of the brain is beyond exeptional, I hope that we can find a way through these uncertain times.
Thank you for risking so much to do what you love.
The music you make breathes on it’s own, it nurtures the mind…
thank you for that piece of soul
the pheonix dies, and falls to the ground and is reborn out of her ashes and flies back to the sky
so if we fall ... is it that we trip? psychedelicly confronting the end, we get so high we reach the sky
the phoenix was born in Shpongleland…
thank you
I downloaded the new album but only because I was impatient. I still plan on buying it the second it becomes availible because Shpongle is the best thing out there. I’ve bought all their albums, all of OTT’s, all Younger Brother’s, all from Prometheus, Hallucinogen, etc etc. I basically have your whole catalogue and I’ve never downloaded any of it for free. So I’ve put a good chunk a change into you guys.
Not that I mind. I love everything Twisted has ever offered.
But, I must say, considering the very spiritualistic overtones in music like Shpongle, one must ask: are you really doing it just for the money?
I suspect not. And I hope not. The music is beautiful. New album best thing since Are You Shpongled? and I’ve already pre-ordered my copy off amazon. But it’s not getting released here in the states until the tail end of November.

Why not pre-order direct from Twisted? I think you would have got it cheaper as well as quicker and I guess that Twisted make more money if you order direct.
That’s a good point. Well, the amazon order is easy to cancel so perhaps that’s what I’ll do. Get paid next week so maybe I’ll add a Shpongle t-shirt on top of it. I saw Simon in LA just a few months ago and he and OTT blew my f-ing mind!
But yeah, I think ordering from Twisted will be a smarter option.
You can pay Twisted with PayPal if thats any help.
I added a T-Shirt to my order as well. Judging by the response here I’d think/hope that Twisted have sold a reasonable amount of extra stuff along with CDs/DVDs
. Huge, Life-affecting, Scary, Beautiful, Orgasmic, Confusing, Incomprehensible, Ineffable experiences, intensified by everyone being on the same drug, until it peaked during those moments of electric synergy that zapped through the dancefloor like lightning, everyone telepathic, transcendant, and really united in state of ‘mind-expansion’... Nothing else achieves that in quite the same way as hearing certain tunes over a great soundsystem with everyone on the dancefloor having a psychedelic experience, not just a drug experience…. “E”, although amazing, doesn’t deliver the same potential…
I will see some of you tomorrow…
Thats quite like a poem. LSD seems to be having a little revival, some of the teenagers have turned up ‘a day late and looking more than a little disheveled’ thanks to it in recent times & I knew the sorriest person in the world the day after the lone raver greedy bee episode. Most sadly we could not come out to play this year, I was convinced into saving up for the Younger Brother party next year instead, hint hint, Amsterdam, London, where ever, we’re already very excited about it. Have a great couple of nights, twas a truly great party last year, one I shall not forget.
I wonder if the postal strike will effect delivery? As long as the Dvd and my top arrive by next Saturday we’ll be happy happy happy.
Dude? I’m no dude, I’m a bird/chick/hag/bag anything, jsust not a dude
Sensitive, beggers belief is an English expression, when taken in context, the sentence reads like, DJSparx cannot comprehend that Twisted are having troubles, not that the Twisted people are beggers, although Simon can look a bit like a dandy highway man at times
