Kate Bush’s Song and Video ‘Cloudbusting’ is a very ecstatic interpretation of W.R.s life, struggle and research.

Happy 2010, much hope and inspiration to all of you.

I remember watching that vid in the cinema when I was 15 in 1985 - yikes!  Still love it and an amazing vid.. grin

Simon, were you aware that the Shpongle mask is in an Alex Grey painting? How is the new album selling? I’ve tried searching to see, if you don’t mind, how many albums have been sold?

Heh, that’s very cool. Noticed it a while after I bought it (“St. Albert”) as a poster. Studied it and recognized a special face. ; )

Let’s have a huge picnic and invite everyone there.

I’m all for downloading low-quality music and then buying the album if you like it.

So when you are a record label like Twisted and you want to form an opinion on digital downloads… You have to ask yourself the question: “Is the sum of all these fans, who download our music digitally (and for free) and occasionaly buy an album or merchandise which they really like and who might visit our live-show, worth more than the (much smaller) sum of fans who has no choice but to buy our album after they miraculously heard from us?” I don’t know the answer, but I tend to say it’s “yes”. I think most of you will agree with me.

Anyhow, I must say that I also don’t like leaks before the album has really come out… It’s just kind of lame..

It’s all very well to speculate, but i can tell you as a fact, we made more money before file sharing… we could survive… now not so…. and i think you will find it the same all over the music business… the argument that “file sharing is promotion” is probably valid…. in fact, i agree…in a way it serves a similar purpose to radio…. but the argument that “file sharing is promotion and therefore you will sell more CDs” is clearly absolute bollocks, otherwise the music industry would be booming right now!
And why you draw our attention to ‘the long tail’ curve mystifies me:  sure amazon can make a lot of money by selling huge quantities from a vast catalogue…. that would work for twisted too, if we had signed 18 million artists….and each CD sold a few dozen copies… unfortunately we have only 3 or 4 artists right now, so the ‘long tail’ is irrelevant to us, clearly… we might have contributed 30 bucks or so to Amazon’s $207 MILLION profit (figures posted for 2008)....
Also i’m sorry that “And if it weren

I also urge you to look into Wilhelm Reich…. (i’m sure you know of him already, and his ‘orgone accumulator’) he’s not a composer, but a sort of mad pervy psychiatrist… but his work on cloudbusting and orgone is quite interesting and anyone who is imprisoned and has tons of their books burned has got to have something going on!

Thanks for listening

How funny you mentioned Wilhelm Reich. In researching the chemtrail phenomenon, it seems almost impossible not to stumble upon mention -and most likely total distortion of- Reich’s experiments with “orgone” and “cloudbusting”...It’s very intriguing, and seems almost beyond the scope of “hard science” in explaining how it works, if it really does. So far, no you tube vids to my knowledge.. Love to see one in action!

haha that’s because, like all pseudo-sciences, reich’s cloud-busting experiments are non-replicable. actually reading about those experiments it all seems rather backward (even for pseudo-science) given the timeframe.

it’s certainly fun to read about mad scientists gone wrong, though.

Hi Flavius,

I wouldn’t put W.Reich into the pseudo-scientist corner so quickly. His main work was not about ‘Cloudbusting’, but about locating the human psyche in the physical body. Instead of putting down our animal instincts as ‘neurosis’ like his mentor S.Freud, he proposed that the post-victorian/pre-rock’n'roll culture that has denied our somatic reality (sex, nature, feeling good) is what is really neurotic.  In modern terms:

“Move your A** and the rest will follow”.

This is not pseudo at all, it has repeatedly been verified on dancefloors from HongKong to Ibiza billions of times! wink

Other experiments have been performed by Pete Townshend and Trent Reznor…

ok…. many listenings later I am ready to say that this has been another awesome journey to distant corners of shpongleland smile

What I SO love about this release, is that it covers new areas of the story, it is more bold musically, deeper spiritually, less bound style and crummy industry vise… it feels… very personal, like the first release was… something very special in every second of it smile

I can’t split it up, never could any of the shpongle albums… it’d be like splitting up and trying to find a favourite part of the aroma we love in chocolate… it’s the whole package… @ least for me it is like that…. but… I have to mention one thing…

Ineffable Mysteries, end from 9:15, till the end…. I chopped it up into a seamless loop… and listened to it… relaxing ever deeper… 2 hours past, outside of any comparison, I was somewhere else…

I don’t use drugs, personal preference, so this is pure music, immersion and what was created there… simply amazing smile

On another note, ppl talking about “bad samples” etc… I can just say, when u create something similar to this, then talk about “quality”... it’s always easy to be an expert @anything and everything online…. pfff….

Amazing piece of art from Shpongle team smile

can’t wait for the next one smile

Any chance of Shpongle tour outside UK?

cheers :D

A.D.

It just keeps getting better… rediscovering it after a few months without listening and it sounds better than ever. Ineffable Mysteries is still my favorite, with Cosmic Mirror in a close second. Just enjoying it so much right now, had to find my way over to the forums to let everybody know raspberry Can’t compare apples to oranges, but this album is just as good as the rest of Shpongle’s albums. Amazing stuff… can’t wait for more Shpongle, Younger Brother, Hallucinogen, Ott, Prometheus…. oh my… the best record label ever.

Also i’m sorry that “And if it weren’t for the internet, I would have given up on music entirely”....  for me, the internet makes me want to give up music wink  But i guess i’m from a different generation…. I started making some of the trance that probably fills your 100Gigs hard drive before i’d even heard of the internet… and i didn’t need the internet to find a deep love of music… the rush of buying a new vinyl, of collecting every release/picture disc by my favourite artists…. discovering new music i liked, all underground, no radio-plugged mix CDs or whatever… ALL without the internet!
I agree that it is lame when an album is leaked before release… it’s kind of like opening a christmas present too early or something… we think it has come from a press person we sent the album to review… i wish he/she could have spent the time they took to upload the album writing a review instead, and earning their dirty journo paycheck, rather than stealing ours…
Anyway i’m off to use the internet for what it’s best for…... where are those tissues? wink

You have a point about this topic…but, lets consider this…I live in this small country in South-eastern Europe, the name of it is irrelevant for the story…and, in this country, I work for 200e per month and I bearly have enough for food, I dont own a credit card…the only way for me to enjoy Shpongle music, which I adore so much, is to get it from the internet…either that or to not enjoy anything. I could manage to save some money to buy new releases in stores, but I cant find anything that interests me in stores. I guess my point is, you should be angry with people who can affort to buy cd but they still download it…Sorry about my bad english, i wish you all well and hope twisted rec is gonna prevale difficulties!

Ok not to sound like im trolling here but in your hypothetical you say you barely have money for food yet you continue to pay for internet?? lol Just found that amusing is all.
