After the posts from this week I think a donate button would be useful, I’m sure the Twisted community would help out..

I think Simon said the best way to donate was to buy something from the Twisted store. I ordered two new Hallucinogen CD’s so I could retire my originals from the 90’s. A donate button (like the one Ott has) specifically for those that make a habit of downloading free copies of Simon’s work seems kind of tacky in my opinion. Just buy something nice from the store and everyone is happy!

But, if Simon wanted to add a “Donate to help Simon buy new equipment to create the next Hallucinogen album” button, I would gladly donate to that cause.

I did the same, except that I bought stuffs that I had on my harddrive for a long time

I was planing on buying them sooner or later anyway

Ya I decided after reading all this crappy news that I would buy all the Twisted CDs that I had recently purchased off Itunes.

One can also go to twisted downloads and purchase a number of their albums from there.

Simon seemed a bit offended when I mentioned it, but really, it can’t hurt. Might not cut losses by much, but there’s no reason not to…

Just please yourself with a bunch of cds

Just get some other things from the shop also if you want. There are small things like mugs and key chains etc

Careful - Airspeed thinks it’s ‘tacky’...

Ott, come on man… the button’s not tacky… downloading all of your albums from the internet then donating a dollar via Paypal (and patting yourself on the back like a good little boy for donating) is in my opinion. You can do what you want, it’s your website, the button is fine if that’s how you can get another form of income to keep the family fed and the music coming.

Way to jump to conclusions with no real information to base them on.

I set up that donate button after receiving many, many emails from people saying:

“I downloaded your album from the internet and would like to pay you something for your work. I don’t want to buy a CD and I don’t want to sign up to iTunes - is there any way I can pay you directly?”

Which strikes me as anything but tacky.

Ah, I totally agree…the fact that you make a point to interact with your fans in that way is pretty awesome in my opinion. I wasn’t trying to be negative about the button just more ticked off since Simon informed us about the financial state of Twisted and his views on the future of Twisted. We all want to see you guys stick around for long time!!!

As a “donater” to both Ott and Sphongle/Simon, I do it because there used to be a time I couldn’t afford to feed myself let alone buy music.
Then over the years as my circumstances changed for the “better”, I wanted to give something back to the artists that fed my imagination for years, and added an aural spice to Netto’s own brand noodles.
tI doesn’t stop me from buying their new and old albums, but it does feel “good” to be able to put some money DIRECTLY into the pocket of the artist, to do with as they please.

I really can’t think of an easier, faster, more direct way to support your favourite artists than a simple donation button…
