This thread is full of delicious information and I am getting pumped up just reading about it.  I’ve been saving some paper for a special occasion.  This may just be that occasion.  I think I’ll have to get a hold of some nice headphones and go out under the stars and lay down.  That is how Younger Brother really took hold of me and it was a beautiful experience.  What I really like about this is that we are all going to be awaiting this moment together and experiencing something beautiful all at once.  It really puts everything into perspective.  Twisted Records has provided so much for me over the years, I truly appreciate it.  Shpongle is like understanding the world through a new pair of senses, how can you not be psyched??

section 31,if you are looking for an high fidelity experience, the new Sennheiser - HD 800 should provide an insane listening experience.
http://www.sennheiser.com/sennheiser/home_en.nsf/root/spec_hd800

didn’t get that chance to check them out yet and until I will have the money to buy something like this I prefer not tease myself.

there is also the High-Definition headphones series of AKG which is amazing.
the old models of this series are Great as well.
can be very good for studio use as well.
this model is excellent - http://www.akg.com/personal/K_242_HD,pcatid,114,pid,837,_psmand,12.html

anyway, in the end it all depends on what you are looking for and on your personal taste and of course on your budget.

cheers !

Many Thanks Lunitarti,
I will have a search for these and try ‘em on for size.  tongue wink (we need a smiley with headphones)

I’ve always loved Shpongle best on headphones. Especially for a first time listen. I like to eat just enough shrooms to sharpen my hearing and help the synesthesia, which has often happened to me without eating any while listening to Shpongle. It’s also the best way, imo, to get the full impact of all the movement and surprises in the stereo field..

I’m a nature guy and something about a clear night under the stars has always seemed the right way to enjoy the music. Camp out, start a fire, lay down and blast off. The most important thing is no distractions. Set some time aside to enjoy the album start to finish. I like some incense, like palo santo, helps the journey as well.

Quality cans or speakers are important, but more so is the ambience of the listening place, be it your room, tent or whatever. Even though dancing to Beija Flor on the bank of that river at Soulclipse was fucking amazing, for me the beauty of the music has best revealed itself in a totally intimate setting.

i don’t know, maybe i’m alone on this, but i would find listening to the new album with headphones on extremely selfish!

without a doubt i will have a few of my close friends over, to me there’s nothing better than looking around at everybody’s faces as they try to soak it all in, going “what the fuck is going on here???” and “oh my god that was so fucking positive!!!”

living in a house means that i can have the speakers on loud enough to fill the whole house with music, i kinda like walking around (whilst doing a dodgy dance) at times to hear it from different perspectives. kinda like the flaming lips’ zaireeka album.

Steve Riech - Nice one, there was this clappy song on the radio the other day, because I went off looking for the music for 16 musicians, I found the clappy song, see, you don’t just make great music, you show the way too.

Here’s my environment!

I came home last night from London at about 0200 in the morning.. Listened to the new CD for the first time with some Helsinki Hydrophonics in my lungs. There’s no way I can hold back my enthusiasm for this release. The tracks have something… ineffable.. in common. It’s just immensely crisp, and technically… outstanding. Invisible man is my favourite.. Closely followed by all the other tracks! “Ineffable Mysteries” is also one wild ride.

Thanks for an outstanding concert and an equally outstanding 4th Shpongle mr Posford. Your musical skills are out of this world, creatively and talentwise.

I’m sure you heard the crowd going wild as you left the stage only to come back and do Tea Daze on Friday.

Hard copy Twisted Cd’s are essential for detail and overall listening.  I use Bowers & Wilkins 804’s with Musical Fidelity amps and other quality cabling. I still discover new details in previous Shpongle albums years later and very subtle sounds buried deep in the textures….

It is wonderful to have Simon’s take and opinion of the album and its various tracks. Thanks for sharing that Simon!

My listening environment will either be headphones or 2x dual 15” harbinger PA cabinets, time of day will probably be at night and I will most likely be lying in the middle of my floor.

I am so excited.

Ideally,I would be listening on some electrostatic speakers in an acoustically treated room.

I love how well recorded Shpongle is, sounds excellent on my system.  I have a pair of Klipsch Fortes with upgraded crossovers, and also replaced the phenolic diaphragm tweets with titanium.  Theyre being driven by a Grant Fidelity A-34 EL34 amp.  Shpongle on tubes just sounds so organic and amazing, and Im sure it only gets better when you throw vinyl in the mix.  My source is a Squeezebox Duet feeding a modded Behringer SRC2496 FLAC files.  I usually roll between the SED EL-34, Sylvania 6CA7, and NOS Soviet 6P3S-Es.  My favorite being the 6P3S-E, its a sleeper tube that can be had for less than $40 for a matched quad.  I cant wait to jam Ineffable on it, its going to be an amazing experience.

Wow,nice setup!

The GF A-34 EL34 amp seems like a real nice piece.
Do you just swap out the tubes whenever you feel the application warrants?

Kind of.  Each tube has its own characteristics.  It all really depends on what kind of sound like you like at the moment.

Mine’s still ‘pending’ aswell. I also ordered something extra with it.
Anyway, since there are like 800 Ineffable Mysteries orders, I don’t think they can send it all in one day. They probably sent some out before (stuff to other continents than Europe perhaps) and will send some out after the 2nd of november.. I suppose…
