We are sat at home, having not been to the gig…....you went…....please tell me how great it was? what did they play? what order? How were those tarty (jealous? me? tooo feckin right, I used to dance and look like that once, maybe it was a dream but I kid you not, they are the most beautiful ladies I’ve ever seen - utter cows!) dancers?

Hope you had a ball. Please share xxxx

Oh… My… God.

Just got back from the Roundhouse.
I took an ungodly amount of LSD and the set blew my mind! Trying to piece my head back together and hopefully get some sleep.
Bought a copy of the album and am listening now, it’s also pretty damn good!

Thank you Simon and Raja! smile

The show was amazing in one word. No reality altering substances were used by me, decided to enjoy it in sober state, and it was good. smile Unfortunately Rajas flute wasn’t heard very well which sucked but that didn’t bother me much.
Missed out on cds, think they have sold out :( Preordered one though so its all good.

I had a Friday ticket for the Roundhouse, but thanks to being knocked off my motorbike at considerable velocity the previous week, I was at home, lying down and listening to my DIY concert while a friend kindly or unkindly sent me texts to keep me informed of what songs Shpongle were playing and how good it was. Yep, he did mention the dancers too. And at least I was there in 08.

I think they had a ball, by the sound of it.

I have to own up as i am “the friend” that kindly or unkindly kept my pal in touch with what was happening…..

Having trudged up and down outside the Roundhouse in the wind and rain for 90 mins attempting to sell his ticket (why were there so many people selling spare tickets) i felt the least i could do was keep him in touch with what was going on inside. Add to the fact that the sniffer dog on duty singled me out for special attention despite only having a couple of junior disprin on me only added to the occasion!!!

Great show..pure theatre….loved the guy in the “slinky” outfit. Wonder if there are any plans to release this as a dvd as well? From the opening bars of Divine Moments Of Truth to the final notes of Around The World In A Tea Daze i was spellbound by the show that these guys put on. It’s not just the music when you see these guys perform, it’s everything that goes with it….. wonder if we will ever see them perform like this again?

Thanks to Simon, Raja and the rest of the band!!!

Did anyone go to both shows?

How did they compare?...I was there Friday.

I’m presuming more people dressed up on the saturday?

I went last year and as i say, i went to the friday show this year… i think it’s difficult to compare….last year there was the anticipation because it was the first time they had performed in the UK, which made for much excitement as the gig got closer and closer….this time there was the knowledge that the show would be different which indeed it was…

anyone got any thoughts on this?

Hehehe - you’re wrong cheese  We played much better on Saturday… The band were too unrelaxed on Friday, there were several technical problems (such as feedback) and we had only rehearsed with the full band for one day!! We all enjoyed saturday a lot more, we could finally hear what we were playing and get into playing the music…

LOL @ ‘shpongle live is tooo live’!
I am guessing that you don’t go to a lot of ‘band’ shows? (Please don’t take that as any kind of put-down or negative judgement - some people just prefer hearing stuff played live from a laptop, where it sounds like the CD… ), but everyone i spoke to that watches a lot of live music (at least 10 shows a year) with real drums, bass, guitars, singers etc, thought it was hugely psychedelic! Obviously we don’t have the budget of Floyd, or Radiohead, or any act on a major label…. but personally i thought slinky man and cid doing his stilt/pan’s labyrinth thing (can you believe he hasn’t seen that movie??!!) were far more trippy and shpongley than the brazilian dancers from 2008, which i found a little bit too cabaret to be honest… even though they were fun, and i had the best view - from behind tongue wink

Just out of curiosity yabsolute, can i ask what other shows you have seen this year?

I’d also like to ask anyone that came to both shows what did we think of the new line-up? Justin Quinn on guitar, compared to Pete Callard from 2008?  (Pete couldn’t do this year as he is on tour in Australia with Elaine Page….. yep, you heard me….Elaine fucking Paige!!)  And was the violin/viola a good addition?

I thought we did pretty good - i would have have liked to have played a few more older tracks, and played a bit longer…. but Andy Gangadeen (the drummer) had booked another show on each night… the slut! On Friday he had to run off stage and drive immediately to Nottingham, and on Saturday, Leicester.

Anyway, I am super proud of all the musicians… Friday night was only our second ever run-though of the set, and Saturday was the 3rd… because during rehearsals nobody could make it on the same days at the same time….
I thought Pixel Addicts did great with the lights… we spent so much money in 2008 on the show that we actually LOST money on a sold out show, so this time we asked Pixel Addicts to slash their budget by a third, and we didn’t record it, or film it… so there will be no DVD :(

The only person whose performance i will never be able to judge, is the front-of-house sound guy, because i am on the stage and not in the crowd… but the reports from people that see a lot of live bands seem to be pretty good… people that only see DJs or laptop bands are slightly less impressed, but i don’t mind about that, because turning up two faders with a stereo file is obviously a world apart from balancing 58 channels of microphones with massive dynamics (a snare drum compared to a cello?) and electronic outputs as well… but the couple of clips i checked out on youtube seemed surprisingly clear actually… Particularly in such a ‘boomy’ venue as the roundhouse.

Thanks to everyone that came…i hope you had a great Halloween… I’m gonna take a few well needed days off before going back in the studio with Younger Brother smile
