So, now that the album is out, what do you guys think of the fourth Shpongle album?

After my first listen after coming home from the concert.. with big smiles.. This is Indubitably one of the most psychedelic, wild, colorful albums I have ever heard. One can barely grasp the perfection as creativity and talent meets…

Here’s one person who simply loves it.

It’s amazing how each consecutive album gets better and better. This one is spot-on.

I love the way they play with time signatures.

I’m going to buy a bunch of these and give them to everyone I know.

I had to listen to it a few times. At first, I did not like it. I somehow was searching/hoping for tracks that would trigger the same feeling I get with ‘Divine Moments of Truth’, Behind Closed Eyelids or A new way to say Hooray.

I was disapointed… The tracks sounded too much like ... Nothing Lasts album maybe.

Turns out I just had to get used to it. Ineffable just had to grow, and I am amazed it allready grew beyond the Tales of the inexpressible album. I can now honestly say: Ineffable mysteries from Shpongleland is the best album Shpongle has made.

My favorite tracks: |
1. Invisible man. (this is my new Happy Pills)
2. Shpongolese spoken here, (the vocals on nitrous oxide)
3. Ineffable mysteries (simply great)

I am still too excited to write something really constructive :D Buy this one

First of all, I’m new to the forum so hi to everyone!
And then to the threads topic: I’ve been listening the new record intesly for some time now and without any exaggeration I can easily say that this is one of the best if not the best Shpongle record to date.
The record feels like a cool combination of all the previous three albums, there’s this harsh trance-vibe from Are You Shpongled, epic ‘dance your ass off’ tracks from Tales of the Inexpressible and always awesome world music like from Nothing Last…
But of those three, Ineffable Mysteries from Shpongleland’s atmosphere is closest to Are You Shpongled, only that Ineffable is somewhat darker and moodier then the first Shpongle.
And for me, this record divides in to three parts: first three tracks are moor catchier Shpongle tracks followed the “chapter” I would consider as one of the best Shpongle moments (tracks 4,5 & 6) and after that the two song outro.
Big thanks to Simon, Raja and everyone involved in the making of the album!

Its very interesting that a few people have mentioned here that the new album takes a couple of listens to really get into and I totally agree - and also that the new album is the best of all the Shpongle albums thus far.

I honestly didnt think that it was possible for Shpongle to make a better album than Nothing Lasts but they have and I am in awe.

The sleeve notes that accompany each track are a great addition and give some interesting insights into the workings of the inner-shpongle-hive-mind.

The artwork is interesting too although I am curious as to the image of what looks like some sort of microscopic bug or insect on the inside page of the booklet. Whats that all about?

Anyway this album gets 5 stars from me.

I love this album.

All the albums are great, but they have their qualities that allows them to stand individually from each other:

AYS is very sound design oriented; and quite an excursion for a first album.

TALES… is my fave; again it takes an excursion and is riddled with SD, but it’s got a greater World music influence.

NOTHING LASTS… is racey and techy; such an awesome album that needs to be listened to in full. A great homage to TM.

INEFFABLE MYSTERIES… is a very thoughtful venture; it’s not trying to be a psychedelic tech record; it’s got so much pace to it. On my 3rd listen, I am still very impress. The hang drum in Nothing is Something Worth Doing is lovely. The whole album is very expressive and emotive.

Si - My only problem is, where did the liner notes go for Electroplasm? “This was the first time I had played it in the…” And? :p

Second listen tonight and it’s very deep and different to the previous ones.  Each album which has come out I always listen and think ‘that’s mad compared to the last’ before I get used to it.  Love each of the tracks but haven’t got a fav yet.  I am you is a beautiful track and the nothing is something is emotional, Electroplasm is deep/creepy even, flouresent suit is subtle…

Just heard it with a very good pair of headphones and i am FUCKING AMAZED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh my goodness…this is so damn psychedelic -
i am sober and didn’t trip for a longer time now but there’s so much complexity going on, so much detail and variation..so creative wow….. It remembered me how music on a trip sounds like ( no album did this before, except those i heard while i was actually tripping ) -

this is a world created of sound…. and at the same time so musical and emotional

Still got to hear it more times to catch everything going on here…

I just love those almost unhearable sounds in the background which keep changing..

Buy this IMMEDIATELY. This is a truly shpongled release…

greetings

Has anybody already gotten the album by the post?
I haven’t, and I’m worrying a bit :(.
And my order still is on Preparing status. Is this ok? I hope so.

I got my DVD and CD as one package this morning, and my order status is still showing as pending/preparing.

I wouldn’t worry just yet though, I was slightly surprised and very pleased to get mine so quickly with the postal strikes causing backlogs.

Do you know, on first listen you might go ?WTF! - it takes about 10 listens to really get into it, just like the last album, but once you ‘get it’ its wonderful!

I bought the CD at the Roundhouse on Saturday and have been caning it ever since.
I avoided samples and the leaked download to hear it at it’s best.

As I found with all the Shpongle albums it gets better with each listen, as you can only take so much in at a time.
I love it now as much as any of the others.  grin

I’m pretty sure I can make out vocal samples from Freddy (Halfwit) and Brian (past winner) from Big Brother…

...does that make me sad???  red face  wink
