I was introduced to Shpongle as i wandered around Camden Market one afternoon in 1997 i think. There was this shop called The Dream Temple that sold clothes and a few cds…i was drawn in by the music the guy was playing and it transpires it was the first Shpongle album which i instantly bought and have been a fan of ever since. It was a new genre of music for me at the time as i had never really heard any psy/trance/ambient music before having been brought up listening to jazz, latin and soul music but i’ve always been open to new music and as i say have been an avid fan of that type of music for nearly 12 years now. Shpongle, for me still stands out as being music like none other i have heard. I love all the influences that you weave into the tracks. For me there are elements of both jazz and latin that are there. Dorset Perception starts with what i would call a Latin riff but correct me if i’m wrong. And the “horn” section that comes in after 4mins on Frisbee conjurs up visions of Havana!!! Hey…enough said…i’ve gone way off topic…just a big thank you again!!!!
Are there plans for you and Raja to continue to collaberate?
Hey Mr. P, saw a Shpongle DJ Set scheduled for December this year in Powai, Bombay, India on Shpongle’s Myspace page. And I’ve been hearing about a Hallucinogen live set around the same time. Will they be on the same day and at the same event? If so, I am so getting my arse down there no matter what.
Sorry to be a bit off topic here, been really excited about this!
