with NO pants . . .
OK, that’s gotta be the single funniest line of the entire album. I laugh every time. (Maybe it’s just nervous laughter, because it hits so close to home ...)
I fixate on the details—but there are so many of them they can’t be ignored, and they say ‘Love is in the details’—but I wonder, what’s the last spoken on the very end of the album? “Outside”? Why?
Also, can anyone decipher the words in No Turn Unstoned…? I read a previous thread where someone had tried… Could Missy Michi Adamsunny enlighten me?
“Now I found you, we can make our own luck?
??? eat you up? meet you up?
Reality is ripping at the seams…”
And what’s this business of wanting to talk to fish.
???
I played my favorite track on the album, Invisible Man in a Fluorescent Suit - the title says so much… I played it on my porch on a cold but sunny day, and stepped out to sit with my guitar and play along. I started hearing strange sounds and birds, and in the past, I’ve had experiences where I listened to Shpongle, hear birds and thought there was a bird outside my window, only to realize the bird was in the music… So I assume the strange sounds and bird songs came from the music… All of a sudden, I looked up and saw a family of squirrels perched in the tree in front of me, all facing my direction, making the broad range of unfathomable sounds that they’re capable of making only if you push the right buttons, and I heard a number of different bird songs of different species at once. It’s funny - you become what you pay attention to. You pay attention to birds, and your head starts to move with those same jerky motions as you try to spot them in the trees, then suddenly you have 360 degree vision… You listen to Bach and then you grown an ear for layers… In this case, I was listening to the complexity of the Shpongle sound, and then I turned to listen to nature that had decided to join the symphony, and all of sudden, I heard all of their separate voices… Stone-cold sober.
Now, about the wonderful cello track, and its title… If the suit weren’t so fluorescent, the man would be so much more visible. Now, isn’t the man _hiding_ inside the fluorescent suit? Is the fluorescent suit a sort of invisibility cloak, donned to make one disappear? And all that can be seen is a glob of black-light reactive fabric floating footlessly…
It’s a beautiful track. It’s obviously very personal. It is so layered, and yet so raw. Can’t you guys make an entire album of this sort? Commission the London Philharmonic Orchestra? Why not write a symphony? And you could add you own psychedelic electronic layer, and be the first to merge classical music with the most modern cutting edge of sound… THAT would be HISTORY. Halloween 2010?
???
Why walk Backwards Through The Cosmic Mirror to be in Shpongleland again? Is there a clock that must be rewinded? Was Shpongleland ever abandoned? Why not try Walking Forwards Through the Cosmic Mirror into Shpongleland again?
Thank you for what you do. And sorry to break it to you, but your lovely new album leaked all over the psychedelic place like a uh, like a bunch of cans of brightly colored paints in the vacuum of outer space…
