My favorite part of all time is in the track “Monster Hit” between 6:00-7:00

the bass is really cool and the flute so nostalgic. I love it, directly to Shpongleland.

What’s your favorite part of all time?

The flute solo in monster hit is indeed brilliant. Personally I have to say that I love the build up during 2:20-4:00 for Monster Hit as well, it’s just magic.

I also love in circuits of the imagination the introduction of the beat and the way the groove builds up. It is SUCH a twisted sound. Has anyone actually noticed by the way that the bassline of this song is from billy cobham - Stratus?

Beside, too many others smile

The part that chills me the most - and I’m talking my ass & hips swinging like Shakira (note: I generally don’t dance and I’m a hairy old hippy) is the middle eastern flute trill in Tea Daze that is introduced at the 4.00 minute mark.

I would one day love to hear a Shpongle album entirely driven by Arabic progressions, that would rock.

My favorite shpongle part?
I don’t talk about it.  Too sacred.

Honorable runner-ups:
The first 3 minutes of Botanical Dimensions.
My experiences under that…unenglishable.

2:00 into Ineffable Mysteries…
Nearly shat my pants on the first listen.
And nearly have every time since…

Ooh, and minute 14 of And the Day Turned to Night…!

The massive timestretch (maybe it’s a flanger?) in Shpongleyes.

That part gives me spine tingles everytime I hear it.

Hahaha, I got the CD today and was ripping that part so loud that my neighbors must of been shitting their pants.

As for my favorite part, it seems to change all the time so I’ll just put down a few in no meaningful order

Nevermind, I don’t want to type them all, and a lot of them are whole songs. So ill just do parts from Mysteries after my 3 listen throughs today

Electroplasm - 2:00 mark as mentioned above and the part thats the sample on the front page.

Shpongoles spoken here - beat from 2:00 to 4:00

Ineffable mysteries - electric flute like sound from 7:40 to 8:00 (short and sweet)

Invisible Man In A Fluorescent Suit - The cello in the beginning, I’m a sucker for strings and bows.

Walking Backwards Through The Cosmic Mirror - the 4/4 part in the middle

I’m sure there are some I’m missing and some that I haven’t picked up on yet.

Guess I should note that I’m referring to the track, not the album.
In case there’s any confusion or ‘give a shit’...

There is a section in Behind Closed Eyelids that has always stood out for me, don’t know if it’s my fave but I think it’s awesome. From 5:20 to 6:30. Then the flute after 8:20 I think is really wonderful

Behind Closed eyelids: from 2:15 on. Once I inhaled a balloon of nitrousoxide maybe 10 seconds before that part and I sunk into the couch in another dimension.

The start of Invisible man. Those bird sounds. Sometimes they sound like two tiny cute birds that are lost. One tries to call the other and only after a few times the other bird responds. Was overwhelmed with love when i first heard it raspberry

But the best:

The last two minutes from ‘A new way to say Hooray’. Just listen the whole track and then absorb the magical words and come down… wow…

Too many… way too many.

I’d say the one that would stand out the most for me would be from Nothing Lasts.  When the triplet melodic bits start flowing around my head and subtly increase the tension… and then the drums and bassline kick in (about 45 seconds into the track).  The smile that crossed my face upon my first listening of that hurt.  Utterly brilliant.  When the piece later opens up with the piano and that classical style… wow, just beyond description for me.

The new track “No Stone Unturned” also has a strong effect upon me.  Around 3 minutes, the modulations and those voices… it literally brought tears of bliss to my eyes.

There are so many brilliant bits in all of their compositions that I feel bad for only listing two, but would feel foolish listing them all cool smile

3:30 into Botanical dimensions its like the longest build up to that bit that spills over getting you ready for a vist to Outer Shpongolia

But as a whole i think Shpongle Spores is amazing!

None of this includes the new album which i am getting used to at the mo!

oops smile

Honestly every song holds a special place in my part. But the one that solidified my shpongle love is vapor rumor about 3:55 to 6:00 Is pretty boss.

It still blows my mind, how shpongles first album still sounds recent. I swear the shpongle sound is immune to aging.
