I was sent a novelty email today featuring Status Quo and Rolf Harris and it made me think about the most unpsychedelic gig I ever went to which was Reading Rock Festival in 1987. Whilst under the influence of LSD I saw Status Quo who were about as unpsychedelic a band as you could get.

Anyone else had any unpsychedelic experiences?

I slept over at some kid’s house when I was about 12 and had to go to church the next morning with his family.

Hmm I dunno.. interesting question though.

Sometimes, the most mundane or “normal” things can be the most trippy when you’re under the influence. I’m not sure if that’s the same as psychedelic as such though. I suppose the polar opposite of psychedelic would be a black and white rainy day in Skegness.. or listening to a Smiths record. At least you can have a bit of a knees up to the Quo wink

Adjective

  * S: (adj) psychedelic (producing distorted sensory perceptions and feelings or altered states of awareness or sometimes states resembling psychosis) “psychedelic drugs like psilocybin and mescaline”
  * S: (adj) psychedelic (having the vivid colors and bizarre patterns associated with psychedelic states) “a psychedelic painting”
  * S: (adj) psychedelic ((of a mental state) characterized by intense and distorted perceptions and hallucinations and feelings of euphoria or sometimes despair) “a psychedelic experience”

Wut is psychedelic? and wut is “unpsychedelic”?

to me it has been a mix of the ugly and the beautiful, the despair, and the bliss, the love, the joy the unknown, the grey area, rainbows and puppys.

but i dont know how one would begin to make psychedelic music, or art in at all, but to be a psychedelic person at heart.

Don’t think there is an opposite for that. Fractals have fractional dimension between one and two, or between two and three, dimensions etc etc. So I can’t think what the opposite of that would be.

But if I suppose if you take the word fraction the opposite would be a whole or multiply

Pretty much anything that plays on public radio or television stations…
Instantly kills my psychedelic atmosphere and mindset.

Musically.. yes - radio does not suply any music that tingles the mind, Or at least usually - 98% of time it does not.

Personally, i dont like to enjoy those vibes out there on public, i like to sit on my studio corner, or near it, watch the indian sheets and listen to music. Sometimes, if feeling capable of it, make some music too.

If its too crowded, too much noise around, too much disturbing information - it wastes the feelings for me, i cant get grip then - calmer the place, higher the lift.

So, maybe, just maybe - the situation over came the music for you? i have been on some events in guite bizarre states, and oftenly - dont find my self enjoying it in psychedelic way that much - since i dont want to feel utterly lost if im not at “safeplace”

Status Quo who were about as unpsychedelic a band as you could get

I am sure that they were unpsychedelic when you saw them at Reading, but have you seen what they were like in 1968?

Quite psychedelic in a Byrds kind of way - and check out the frilly shirts!

Once, long ago, I was tripping and I turned on the radio.
Goodbye to Love by The Carpenters came on. Not very psychedelic…until the guitar break at the end which was strangely blissfull.
So now I think that The Carpenters are psychedelic.  All of which proves that large doses of LSD give you brain damage!  Ha Ha grin
