[quote author=“trooth”]one movie that anyone on psychedelics should stay far away from is Natural Born Killers. that entire movie is just one big mindfuck all the way through
dark side of oz (wizard of oz + dark side of the moon)

[quote author=“psilo”]Waking life is a realy trippy movie! the dream sample in Beija flor comes from this movie. my signature to..
Waking Life is awesome. One of the best psychedelic movies I’ve ever seen. Brings up kinda like _everything_ I like to think of and investigate on. A must see movie.
[quote author=“Patriknark”][quote author=“EbelEyes”]Well I’d say the most recent one I’ve seen was “The Fountain”
Simply amazing.
For all fans of Requiem for a Dream and Pi, director Darren Aronofsky is back and just as good as he always was.
At least I thought it was awesome.
Anyone else see it?
Yeah, I’ve seen it, and quite frankly it was life altering. I was smacked back in the seat with awe (watched it at the cinema, adds very much since it’s very audiovisual). The theme of the movie is quite trippy, and probably hard to get under the influence, but the artwork and music will make this MINDBLOWING to watch under the influence. Quite frankly I’ll try this as soon as possible, and give you some replies as to how it went
This movie is just ...OH-MY-GOD!
Seen it more than 5 times and every time i find it better!
Life altering like you said…it made me cry.
Yesterday i saw “into the wild” which was also mind blowing, in another point of view though. It’s more about nature and man.
Which brings to my mind another astonishing movie “Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter… and Spring” by kim-ki-duk (my favourite asian director). You MUST see this one…
i also recently watched mr nobody - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0485947/ - has some awesome sci fi scenes, although it’s very plot-driven so may be difficult to watch.
i’d be keen for more recommendations for visually-driven movies, because i know there’s more out there.
^ have you seen “Enter the Void”? that one is nuts, its kinda dark and hard to watch in places but its very deep. also Waking Life (the movie sampled in Nothings Lost of course) has awesome animation that makes it very trippy
-oh yea, and “Sunshine” is bad ass, one of the best movies ive ever seen
flavius, i enjoy visually stunning movies as well and have enjoyed watching some of them in company of mary jane.
stanley kubrick’s work (eyes wide shut, 2001, a clockwork orange, the shinging, full metal jacket, barry lyndon.. to name the more recent ones) would be my first recommendation. totally diverse and brilliant on every level. i’ve watched these films countless times and i’m still not bored for a single second when rewatching them.
lately i’m quite impressed by terrence malick’s films. i’ve only seen them with sound though. the tree of life and the thin red line are my favourites atm.
the tree of life had some really cool scenes and beautiful cinimatography but i wasnt feeling the story line very much, im not sure what to think about that one.

it’s a tough one. the acting was top notch, visually it was stunning. one of the most beautiful films that i’ve ever seen, especially the whole sequence with Earth forming. i get goosebumps just thinking about it.
but i agree that the story-telling wasn’t too great, i think it was trying to be too clever for its own good. i haven’t seen a film riddled with quite that much symbolism for a while, and most of it went right over my head. wtf was with the scene with the dinosaur??
i still think it’s a great movie, though. certainly an achievement.

yeah, i’ve seen enter the void, but i found it really disappointing.
first of all, because its representation of a DMT trip completely missed the mark, so that automatically left me disappointed. but mainly because i found the dialogue to be really bad, and the whole story a bit wanky. plus, it was really violent and depressing, so not a great movie to watch while under the influence.
sunshine, on the other hand, took me completely by surprise. after reading the plot summary i thought it was really dumb and didn’t watch it until not long ago, but it turned out to be brilliant (if still hard to believe from a scientific point of view…). together with moon, it’s the only sci fi movie of note in the last few years.

yeah, i’ve watched 2001 while tripping. it’s by far my favourite sci fi movie, but watching it under the influence was a whole new experience. i didn’t turn off the sound completely, but i played are you shpongled? and mir over the top of it.
it was amazing, as you’d expect. the final scenes beginning with bowman going through the wormhole, flying over the aliens’ star, and waking up in the ‘hotel room’ was just mind-blowing (even though the graphics look really outdated now). the look on bowman’s face when he goes through the wormhole is, for me, the most powerful emotive moment that i’ve ever seen in a movie. if you just try to put yourself in his place, as a humble human being, realising that you are being flung through the universe at who knows what speed, it just completely blows my mind. i’m happy to admit that it nearly made me cry.
but yeah, i’m looking for more experiences like that. hopefully ONE DAY someone will actually make the Rendezvous with Rama movie.
