Ok I was going to stick this in the off topic as I know Twisted will appear in it but anyway just wondered what everyones top 5 were for the year and gives people a chance to track down something decent which may have been missed or recommended….

Here goes…the results are now in… grin

1. Ineffable Mysteries - Shpongle - kinda goes without saying.

And in no particular order…

Daydreamer - (Val) Liam - Celestrial Dragon - Beautiful ambience, I love this label and they always put out great compilations. I think there is a new comp in the new year.

Solar Fields - Moments - Ultimae - this guys a genius and I’d love to hear a collaboration between him and Posford, he’s always putting albums out too.

Unidentified Floating Ambience - Various - Silent Records - this label is now long gone but the stuff they put out in the early 90’s was way ahead of it’s time, you can still track down the ablums (just) and the back catalogue is huge. Real deep space stuff…

Music for Zen Medition - Tony Scott - Verve records (1964) - TS plays the Clarinet, Shinichi Yuize plays the Koto and Hozan Yamamoto the Shakahaci.  It was all played without any rehersal, is very simple but is beautiful and holds your attention..

Damn, I haven’t even heard enough albums to put in the top 5…But Ineffable Mysteries, Solar Fields’s and H.U.V.A. Network’s are among the best I’ve heard in the 2009.

Third Ear Audio - Self Titled
Chronos & C.J. Catalizer - Quid Es Veritas?
Field Rotation - Licht und Schatten

Love both of those albums, though haven’t listened to them as much as I’d like! I am surprised no one has mentioned any of DJ Zen’s compilations—-Air, Water, and Fire are all great though it’s hard to squeeze them all into a top 5! Let’s see here…
1. Shpongle - Ineffable Mysteries (of course)
2. DJ Zen - Water
3. Solar Fields - Movements
4. H.U.V.A. Network - Ephemeris
5. Aes Dana - Leylines

Honorable Mentions:
Other DJ Zen Compilations
Cosmosis - Fumbling for the Funky Frequency
La Mila - Search Your Dream
Sunkings - Before We Die (really just a few tracks on there I love, namely Barleycorn)
Hallucinogen In Dub Live
