Carrying on from my earlier post I must admit that I didn’t have a clue either about where the mystical 4th room was and I don’t think OTT played.  I did at times throughout the night think where is it?

On the way in the security asked me where my drugs were (of course my mushrooms were down my pants but I wasn’t going to offer him any :D ) but he also asked where my BLADE was - can you believe that  I replied eh??

Respect to the clips of the Shpongle set - honest for those who didn’t get to see it, it was very special the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end when I see that again!!

I missed it :’( but I hope most of you had a good time even with the security issues. Seems very much like the Swedish policy of being no help what so ever and being over aggressive. (Steroids in the case here) I’ve experienced similar acts just in clubs here in Stockholm. Not letting people in to get their jackets and stuff.

Apart from that I see from Tristan’s videos I missed a good one.

Two days after the party we’ve been all waiting for so long and all I can think of is anger! Everyone was so excited about it, we didn’t mind paying the 21 quid, after all it was an anniversary party from Twisted, so what the hell? Less organised people or people who just couldn’t buy ticketst in advance..had to pay much more on the door, but again.. no problemo.

But the thing is.. (and here the anger begins..), when the organisers -Twisted in this case, explain that it will be a limited tickets event and especially when the price is so high, you do expect the venue not to bet as packed! There’s rules about venue capacity mainly for health and safety reasons, I repeat.. SAFETY!

If let’s say there was a fire on or any other kind of emergency, we would all simply die in there like rats! The venue was more than just full and I’m sure everyone noticed.. When there’s such a big party happening, the least organisers can do is to at least try to find a more suitable venue, or sell less tickets! How greedy can they be? I mean common!! We had to wait for an hour on the cloak room when we got there, and then we had to wait for and hour and half when leaving. So, I was there from 12 till 8am, minus 2 hours and a half (cloackroom waiting time), which means that ‘quality time’ spent was only 5 hours and a half.. Nice hey???

When we finally managed to give our stuff on the cloackroom, the nightmare begun.. Couldn’t find any of our friends for hours, couldn’t get water or any kind of drinks without first waiting long ques (again!).. couldn’t enjoy Shpongle cos simply the room was bloody tiny.. I mean people.. how on earth did you expect the crowd to enjoy Shpongle in such a small room?? The minute Hallu’s set finished.. suddenly there was a wave of people heading towards the Retro room, none giving a toss about stepping on people’s foot, hands.. etc etc.. The room was simply not big enough, such a mayhem!

Then the tiny bottles of water.. Two pounds for that??? Rediculous.. Simply.

Security as lots of people pointed was another problem, but I won’t go into that. It has all been described perfectly well in previous posts..

So that’s it really.. I honestly can’t figure why Twisted decided to do the party at the specific venue. But even if that was their last and only choise.. they could simply sell less tickets. How greedy could they be? Cos the way it looked, the only thing that mattered to them was making some extra cash and not caring at all about Twisted’s fans. I feel sorry for people that flew from abroad just for this party.

P.S.1 Whenever there’s a big party from Twisted again.. won’t be on my list as a must go anymore and rather listen to their music indoors from the comfort of my living room and my personal sound system.

P.S.2 A huge applause to those who managed to keep calm, smile during most of the night and of course to those who dressed up and made the rooms look happier!

Angry Frog!

Ouch - you’re a pissed off bunny!

I think you have to look at it from their side as well. Twisted made it quite clear that there was absolute NO TICKETS AVAILABLE. Then that they would put 200 aside for latecomers. Then again NO TICKETS AVAILABLE.

This was the cock-up. They should not have said that some tickets would be available on the door.

So what do you do when a thousand or so extra munters, all dressed up in amazing clothes with nowhere to go, are there in the cold begging to be let in?

Perhaps they shouldn’t have let in so many, but there again had it been me at the back of that queue, I’d have been eternally grateful to them. So it’s a hard one to balance really. You can’t please everyone, and to be honest, I think they pleased more people by letting them in than pissed people because of overcrowding.

As for greediness, well show me a club promoter who isn’t trying to make money. Even squat parties these days charge a fiver (used to be a volunteer bucket). And these days, with so much CD P2P sharing out there, there’s even more need for it. Gone are the days when they would make money back from the latest Shpongle release. Most people are downloading it for free from some site. So they have to make money in some way. If you are guilty of music piracy yourself, you too are partly to blame for this apparent “greed” in other ways - water, entrance, overcrowding, etc. ID Spiral didn’t even bother bringing their CDs to sell at their stall - what does that tell you about the state of music piracy these days.

However, one thing I felt really annoyed about was that I am unemployed and wanted to get in with some kind of concession. When I bought my tickets it was about 14 October, the deadline for cheaper tickets had passed. Not only would they not give me cheaper concessionary tickets, but they wouldn’t even sell me a ticket at the rate from a few days previous. So I paid

Oh it’s not a big complaint - the money ended up well spent. I had to wait because I needed to be absolutely sure that I wouldn’t have to go to Ireland (my wife’s dad is very ill - terminal I’m afraid). When I was sure that he was going to be OK for at least a fortnight, I booked my tickets.

It would have been nice to offer concessions, or at least to offer the tickets to me at the price from a couple of days earlier, but I do understand their need to make money too.

I was one of the organisers of the amazing PLUR parties back in 2000 and 2001 at Drome/SeONE. In 2000 we made loads of money for charity. But in 2001 we didn’t make enough and we ended up out of pocket ourselves. This is partly to do with the fact that we didn’t make a penny on the bar - that all went to SeONE - but there again, c’est la vie. That’s how it goes sometimes. Putting on parties is expensive - especially when artists have to be flown in from Australia, Denmark, etc etc.

Forgot to comment on this bit earlier. Yeah, I saw that queue and decided not to bother with it. In the end I tied my coat around my waist. It was a pain in the arse but worth it. But in retrospect I should have just made sure there was nothing of value in the pockets and simply left it somewhere in the chill-out room, in a corner somewhere, or underneath some of the staging. No one is going to steal it (very fluffy crowd). Although I wouldn’t put it past the security guards, but should that happen it wouldn’t have been the end of the world.

When I go clubbing I always make sure that my coat is one that I wouldn’t cry too much if it got nicked. So far, it’s never been nicked - in fact, in constant clubbing since 1993 and leaving my coat all over the place, I’ve never had anything nicked.

I DO use the cloakroom in places like Hidden where it’s well organised, or in the upstairs cloakroom at the Fridge which I know is never too busy, but as a rule it’s much easier to just leave it somewhere.

Really great night. Thanks so much to twisted for sorting out such a great time - highlight for me was the Hallucinogen set, absolutely mental. Have spent much of the weekend recovering and feel decidedly jaded today. Really nice to meet so many nice people having fun.

(... that said, I do agree that the venue was absolutely terrible!)

Goodness Krishan, really sorry to hear that, awful story.

How many didn’t manage to get in?

What time did you start queueing from?

If you’d started queueing by eg 9 or so, you’d have got in eventually.

I would never travel overseas if I definitely didn’t have a ticket! ouch!!

Oh well, I’m glad you’re not too bitter about it….

Enough!!!

Most probs not twisted’s fault - the venue simply couldnt handle the monster party…..

on a positive - the old skool goa room was a brilliant idea and was a blast listening to the classics..

in the main room - was too rammed for me when hallucinogen etc was playing but transwave, koxbox and GBU were class…

the highlight - TRISTAN - amazing, cheers big man!! good costume too!

when’s the DVD out - can’t wait..????????

anyone any footage of trizza’s set??

THANK YOU TWISTED!!!!!!

Even though we waited almost an hour behind the doors and an hour to get our coats after the party, it was still an absolutely amazing experience for me and my friends and definately worth travelling all that way for this party…

it took our twisted heads to another level..

many thanks!

boom~!

Right whinging dudes, you all need to chill down a little. Price of tickets to high, well you still bought it. Just think what you got for your money. Some really kick ass artists. I would pay 25 quid plus just to see a Shpongle set. I paid 40 quid to see McCartney live in Stockholm and that was for a few hours. So how much money did they make at that sell out 2 nights in a plrow. Let us all realise the amazing talent of just one man (Mr Posford) in that venue then times that by 5 or 6 more ultra talented artists. Not begrudging McCartney cos I dig his music and also want his bass guitar as it’s so much better than mine but these artists produce better sounds. These people like have dedicated their lives to producing some of the most amazing frequency manipulations ever and you begrudge them from trying to make a living. It’s not cheap hiring guards, not cheap to rent a venue especially in London. Remember it wasn’t their original choice so the ticket thing was explained about in the forums. It’s not cheap to get the equipment all sorted. I can imagine the bar being the venues business so These things aren’t cheap so probably at least 1/2 to 2/3 of the ticket went to covering costs. You make me sick I’m sorry. I was so pissed I was unable to go and youz lot are whinging about things that happen at almost every party. All this negativity about minor points probably stopped you from really getting into the spirit of the party as I’ve read some people did. You should of thought yourself lucky you were there. Some of us unfortunately wanted to be there but couldn’t. At under 5 quid an hour compared with my 13.66 quid an hour to see McCartney I think you got a good deal.
